I know most things from the 80s keeps coming back in fashion but Liz's awful perm is horrendous! I switched the TV on last night and was shocked at how horrid it was, was it a fancy dress storyline or is that her real hair?
![]() It's horrendous isn't it? Quite frightening, as if she's been electrocuted.

I know. Less tarty frocks and now this Bette Midler look. How come Freddie isn't taking any interest in Liz but is all over Audrey like a rash?

Do people really discuss their pregnancy plans/periods in such full detail in full view of the pub?
And who discusses their most fertile time and plans for sex in front of their mother/mother in law? Would Dev stock pregnancy tests in his pokey shop? Maria and Michelle now best mates, and both 'Connors' despite never having spoken or interacted for years.

Cherylee Houston who plays Izzy is really in pain. She has Ehlers–Danlos syndrome and hence story line incorporated to give her a break. It is obvious from her appearance that she is on steroids to combat the pain.

Michelle must be a nightmare to live with.
She nagged Steve to consider having a baby because she thought it would make them complete. Steve initially had doubts so she threw a big strop, and he had no choice but to agree. Steve gently tells her trying for a baby a bad idea, but she says tough, "I'm pregnant" and he should've been honest right from the start. Err........he was? She's lived with him for years, she should know if he acts all squeamish and hysterical then he doesn't like the idea. But Michelle, being a complete control freak she is, pushed him into making a decision he didn't commit to. Once the truth outs, she is going to be an insufferable bint, isn't he? Irresponsible of her to bring up another child to justify a loveless relationship............let's hope she doesn't have a mix up. Steve loves getting women pregnant, doesn't he? Produces super sperm. ![]() |

The problem is, is that Corrie seems to have dropped the storyline for now and will probably pick up again at some random time when it suits them. Before the cannabis storyline, there wasn't really any mention of what someone in Izzy's position goes through on a daily basis. It also seemed like it was played for laughs with that scene of her having a bad reaction in her flat. It's daft that they've just had Izzy complain about cannabis being illegal and continuing to break the law and shout at police officers and the judge, but we haven't seen her get involved with activist groups who are trying to get it legalised or sign a petition to be taken to the local MP. The way they've portrayed this storyline hasn't made it easy to feel sorry for Izzy, and I've tried hard to emphasise with her, being that I can relate to the chronic pain issue. It's annoying that they've messed this up, being that Izzy is the only soap character with a chronic pain condition and their only opportunity to highlight the issue.
But that then she plays this ridiculous part as determined the the writers and producer, speaking in an equally ridiculous voice and accent and the character loses the natural sympathy towards the real person and then I feel bad about that

Well they are here too but if you want you child enrolled in a public school they have to have them.
"There's a worry that introducing chickenpox vaccination for all children could increase the risk of chickenpox and shingles in adults." If you really want to have it, then you can get it done privately and pay for it. That's one difference between you and us - our health care is free and mainly decided on what's good for the whole community, and isn't affected by who will pay for what and for how much. |

I thought she was going for the Shirley Temple look. For those younger than me she was a child star in the 1930s from the age of 4 with curly blond hair. Liz only needs a big ribbon bow to complete the look.

It was morning in tonight's first episode and Tim said to Steve that it would take him ages to go to Liverpool Airport "at this time of night". Izzy's wheelchair looks far too big and heavy to get on a bus.
The Supreme Court is currently hearing a case brought by a disabled man who couldn't get on a bus because a woman with a pushchair wouldn't move. They are considering a previous ruling that wheelchair users shouldn't get priority over pushchairs, i.e. one traveller can't have priority over another. IMO the difference is that a mother mostly chooses to have a baby and can usually fold a pushchair, carry the baby and sit in a normal seat; a disabled person doesn't choose to be disabled and can't fold his electric wheelchair and get out of it. |

Do people really just decide overnight to up sticks and move to Liverpool, away from all their family, friends, flat etc.
What about a school for Curly Simon? Can you just move like that and start another school in September? Did I hear Leanne say something about Ken looking for a school in Liverpool, highly unlikely the teachers are sat there in August in any case waiting to discuss it. What's the betting her and Curly will pack up next week and get on t'bus with one small suitcase each in true soap style. Then have a last minute change of heart and get off the bus in full view of the coach

Leanne could not give a toss about Simon. The kid has only just settled down, saw a therapist etc. Now she decides on a whim to move him away from his family and friends and move schools. Just so she can dodge Liz McGranny.

I hope you don't mind me butting in, I love reading this thread but never post.
I have a niggle about last night and Michelle's pregnancy test. I've been trying for years so there's really not much I don't know about a cycle. First she said that she pinpointed her fertile week and it was the last day then by putting her details into an app she suddenly jumped over 2 weeks ahead to become 5 days late. I've also never ever come across a pregnancy test with a smiley face, ovulation predictor test yes, but not pregnancy. Also if it was what Michelle originally thought and it was her last fertile day she'd be bang on for a smiley face on an ovulation test. It really confused me but I don't think Michelle or Maria would be silly enough to confused the two. Sorry, corrie annoys me sometimes.

as we saw Amy with 'the pox'
My guess is simon gets them and passes them onto |Leanne, otherwise it's all a bit random bearing in mind you never see a soap kid with a cold when children get them all the timewas leanne talking to Simon's school when he came in, clever as it's summer holidays |

Leanne mentioned the other day she already has had chickenpox. Anyone having had chickenpox can later develop shingles, as I know to my cost, and they are terribly painful, but whether this would affect a baby I really don't know. Maybe Michelle gets chickenpox?

Yes, Michelle was all over the place with her dates, it was ludicrous. If she had been on the pill or the injection or the coil, she would have to stop those first for at least a month before she'd get pregnant. If she wasn't using chemical contraception, she'd have been well aware of her cycles, unless they were very erratic. If her cycles were very erratic she'd have trouble getting pregnant anyway!
Then Erica replaced the other pregnancy test in beside the Nappies with the baby stuff. Pregnancy tests are not placed beside nappies, it's just inappropriate. What could happen is that the test is an Ovulation Test not a Pregnancy test! That would be interesting, but I doubt Corrie are that ingenious to even know there is a difference. Any stick you pee on is a pregnancy test and it has to be bought from Dev's corner shop. It'd don't get any more complicated. A phone App is much more likely to be wrong if the cycles are not bang on 28 days. |

Simon also being very mature for a 13yr old.
He didn't punch a hole in the wall with his fist when Leanne springs it on him that they are leaving for a new city the next morning and he had to change schools, leave his friends, football club, family etc. No he didn't punch a wall or go out and try crack cocaine or rob cans from Dev's and go and drink them down the Red Rec. He didn't as much as slam a door. No. The all new Mature Reformed Simon, teenager aged 13 and a half, says 'Well, Leanne, you supported me through a tough time, now I'll support you. Let's go to Liverpool' or some such. What a load of. Really. What a great adventure awaits him in Liverpool. Sleeping on the floor of his step Aunt's bedsit, while trying to integrate himself in a new school, all the while waiting for pregnant Leanne's mood swings to dictate the direction in his life. Will an obviously pregnant restaurant manager Leanne's age really walk into a plumb job in Liverpool....I don't flamin' think so! If she was that good she'd have sorted that recurring Olive problem before she left the Bistro. |
