Well I remember it, though longer than 20 years ago for me - baby under the arm, shopping, and buggy to fold. What fun. You weren't allowed to take a pushchair on a bus unless it was folded, but these days there are some monster pushchairs around, positively huge.

Anyway, we're well off topic, so to bring it back:

With reference to what ewoodie wrote earlier about Leanne and Nick - I thought it was very silly that we are now expected to believe that they are 'in love' with one another. What happened to Nick's undying love for Carla? And why are they employing the tiresome soap cliché of a secret being kept for no reason other than plot complications yet again? Being pregnant is not a secret that can be kept very long!
Nick and Leanne ...agreed
And her spurious reasons for divorcing him...his mood swings following his head injury
Thehve gone away have they all of a sudden?

as steve is a twin either miss hell or leanne may have twins

or does it skip a generation so Amy has twins
It follows the female line not the male , if she has twins it's a coincidence

Coronation Street is not a safe place for pregnant women. The miscarriage / mortality rate must be lowest in the country.

As a matter of interest, how many pregnancies over the past 10 years of Corrie have actually produced a child who is still around and how many didn't?
Still on street

Ruby
Lily
Hope
Liam
Harry

Not on street

Erica x 1
Tracy x 2
Carla x 1
Maria x 1
Becky x 2?
Leanne x 1
Faye x 1

Any more to add?
Leanne is x2. She got pregnant when she married Nick in Gretna Green the first time in 1998 when she got pregnant and Nick persuaded her to have an abortion. She had a miscarriage in 2011. Think Peter was the father.

That'll just be three more people who are lucky to have her.
Two of them will be, the third will have to go without

Twenty years or more ago younger people were happy to give up their seats for older people, for ladies, for mums and especially for disabled people.....................
So why do I feel hurt when a young person (and in two cases women about 40) stand up and offer me their seats? I decline gracefully, though.

I'm only 73. If I do have to sit in an "old person" seat, I stand up if an old person, or someone with walking difficulty, gets on.

It's such a total SOR that Leanne gets pregnant from a one night stand with Steve, then Michelle at the age of 40, get's pregnant within the first week of trying !
I may be wrong , but I just can't see both pregnancies going ahead, something will happen, possibly to Michelle, as I can't imagine her with a baby, somehow.
The very thought of watching Steve gurning, biting his lip and chewing his fingers for months on end is downright annoying

I wonder if MissHell will lose her baby, and Leanne will deliver a healthy baby but end up giving it to MissHell for some reason.
Sounds daft but Cs has been daft for a long time now.

Thanks.

There's also Karen who I think is a x 2. I was trying to keep it within a timescale or else we'd be going back 60 years!

The percentage for kids who actually made it is very low. A vast number were involved in miscarriage, stillbirth or just shipped off somewhere like Miley.

I just wonder if the babies will survive the latest round of Corrie pregnancies. And TBH I can't see how Steve and Michelle's relationship can survive him getting another woman pregnant.

The baby would be lucky to have Michelle as a mother.

And growing up, I'm sure people will never stop telling the kid.

Watching Friday's ...

this producer really is a fan of the anguished stare into the distance ,,, just about every scene ends that way.

Corrie uses the dramatic miscarriage, triggered by a fall or a shock, which is actually very unusual. Mind you, they also go in for dramatic births - I was thinking of Hope, born very prematurely, Jake with his murdered surrogate mother, babies born in taxis, pubs, on stage...

Of course, they're not alone in this. Perhaps the lengthy process of a normal birth doesn't make good TV in a drama.

Can't see if it's been mentioned, but when Leanne told Eva she was moving to Liverpool and could she find a flatmate, Eva was momentarily upset but then elated it meant Aidan could move in with her. How come she didn't mention or allude to her niece or nephew or even comment that Leanne would be able to do the new job for six months at best (and not be eligible for maternity pay)? It was so totally unrealistic. And whyexactly isn't she telling Nick about the baby - I mean it would be obvious before long - surely given she wants nothing to do with Steve she should have confided in Nick and said nothing to Steve? It's all so messy.

I can't see Leanne giving away her baby. She said to someone (it may have been Eva) that she really wants this baby. Also after being told that she may not be able to have children after her miscarriage years ago I can't see why she would just hand the baby over to someone else when it would be her first biological child.

But then again if Michelle stamps her feet and folds her arms in a sulk long enough she is bound to get what she wants eventually.

This is where she needs some good advice on her options. She should ask Anna and Faye how they dealt with it.

I
It really confused me but I don't think Michelle or Maria would be silly enough to confused the two.
I think you're giving them both (or their scriptwriters) far to much credit there.

I think it was a way for Leanne to discover that Liz knew about the pregnancy.
Yes agreed nothing more complicated than that I think. My son had chicken pox when i was pregnant with my second child. I was told there little to worry about. it's not like a pregnant woman being in contact with rubella, is it?

Personally, I think younger people should be encouraged to make nice gestures like offering their seat to someone who, (even if only in their eyes), is elderly, so if that ever happens to me when I'm 73, I will accept gratefully if only to make that kind person feel good about themselves for doing the right thing.

I know you said you declined gracefully, so that should be fine, but I would hate to think anybody might inadvertently make a kind hearted person feel foolish and rejected by declining their offer and therefore less likely to make the same offer to anyone else in the future.

How could I forget Izzy?

So that's 15. With 5 still around/surviving. 33% street survival rate! Isn't that rather low? It's far higher than this list by the World Health Organization.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...mortality_rate

Leanne and Michelle should scarper.

I've found the use of pregnancies in Corrie to hype up a SL, then a miscarriage etc., very annoying and callous.

Yes, and whatever about a poky corner shop like Dev's stocking Pregnancy Tests, he'd never stock Ovulation tests as I think they are a fair bit dearer. And not much call for them around there... Michelle's baby must be the first 'planned' one to come along in a good few years.
What with baby-switching, a banana skin, a set of stairs, and/or any number of other unfortunate events that are still a twinkle in a scriptwriter's eye, it don't bode well for the poor mite...

Is it my imagination but has Gary stopped staring at the ceiling and just staring at the horizon. Perhaps he's looking for the cavalry to save him from Izzy.
