There's a lot of it about.

An SOR is how two people can run a kebab shop open 7 days a week from 11:30 till late. (with 2 hours of prep beforehand.)

But then we also have the Corner Shop with 2 employees. And the Kabin.

Shops in Corrie are generally an SOR.

Can somebody help me please?

I have to admit that I only half watch Coronation Street these days so it is entirely my fault that I do not understand the current storyline.

But, what exactly is the scam that Pheelan and his mate are carrying out. I know the ultimate aim is to steal Jason's money and probably business but what exactly are they doing?

Thank you

They're going to build a showroom on the plot of land to get people to give them deposits for a house, they will then take the deposits and run.

Jason's money was needed to buy the land, but Eileen thinks he will get a stake in the eventual development. (He won't, there won't be a development)

set up the building plans, make eileen think things are happening and whilst nothing gets built they spyphone off the money from the account for non existent materials.

I think, i'm not a qualified scam artist but it's something along those lines

Thank you. I wasn't thinking about the potential deposits.

I think you mean siphon

You can probably get a GCSE, if not a degree in scam nowadays.

I can't wait for Eileen to discover she has been conned. And get that smug look off her face. Especially after Anna opened up to her about Phelan, baring her shame, and Eileen ignored her, someone she had known for ages, and believed Phelan who she had known for five minutes.

Yes, that will be very satisfying to watch with a nice glass of red wine.

Ah, yes, the standard Corrie writers' staple ... the "believe a shady newcomer rather than your long-term local" story line.

Yes, she ignored the kind of extreme story that nobody is likely to make up, the advice from her previous boyfriend, her son and just about anyone else who has had anything to do with Phelan. It is not as if Phelan is even subtle. Just another in a long line of unbelievable storylines.

Last night you had Bethany being accused of bullying Lauren and next minute Sarah was thanking Gary as if nothing much had happened. Again unbelievable.

I bet Phelan buys a unit for Eileen for a love nest as an act of sincerity about their future together. Love, oh love, oh careless love. Where do we find such men.

the bethany bully story is so badly planned they forgot that herself and lauren would have finished school and be in sixth form or college by now

You know this sounds unlikely, but I think they are going to make Phelan a good guy. I think he will be caught in a dilemma whether to put Eileen in danger and continue with the Evil Development Plan, or to find he actually cares for Eileen and has to take action to get Jason's money back. Or to double cross the double crosser some how...
Or maybe I don't get out enough.

Oddly, I thought the same thing! Does seem unlikely, but there was a definite element of indecision being put across in the last episode

If they did, he might actually make a good character, instead of being a two dimensional panto villain!

Well, they've certainly changed enough "baddies" into "goodies" over the years, too many to mention.
