I like Melanie Hill and I think she does her best with the crapola she's given to work with but the whole Roy/Cathy relationship has been poorly conceived and badly executed - from their original meeting at the long forgotten allotment, to her hoarding problem and her lovely house, which is presumably still out there in the burbs.

They (and 95% of all the 'couples' on the Street) have had no meaningful dialogue together to make us buy into their romance or whatever it's supposed to be.

Sally & Tim are just about believable if they resist going too far down the comedic route, Jack & Vera they are not. As for the rest .....

This scenario is dotty. Cathy fired with a great sense of urgency over a flat that hasn't gone beyond the stage of planning permission for her nephew who obviously could never afford to buy a new flat of any kind on what he earns. It would be unkind to allow Alex to believe that he has a chance to get this flat, hypothetical as it is.

Blimey, is there any privacy at all in relationships these days?! To me, wanting to know your partner's PIN suggests trust issues and I'd be highly insulted if mine demanded to know my PIN.

They have probably realised that viewers don't have much sympathy for Phalan's other victims so have gone for the sympathy for a victim with learning difficulties angle this time around to try and change that.

I'm no expert, but would people hand over a £15k deposit for a flat on which construction hasn't even started yet? Wouldn't the process need to be further down the line? All Phelan has is planning permission for a theoretical development of apartments.

Don't have my phoned locked. Neither does my husband. There's nothing on either that needs to be kept secret. We also know each others passwords for everything.

I assume that when you do set a PIN, you have to enter that before you can answer a call, although I don't know because I don't do it. You never see anyone in Corrie doing that.

We know each other's PIN, not because either of us has 'demanded' it but because there have been numerous occasions during the time we have been together where on of us has been going to the cashpoint and the other has said something like 'draw me some money while you're there'.

We know each other's main computer passwords too, just through paying for stuff like holidays on whoever's card has money on it. We can both be open because we have nothing to hide, and don't think we'd steal from each other.

It doesn't indicate trust issues at all, quite the opposite, although I'd also have no problem with anyone thinking that these things should be totally secret because that's the official advice and I can see that it's entirely sensible. It's just that in the day to day practicalities of living together, these things have gradually become things that are 'couple' rather than 'individual' things.

All this talk of PIN numbers for phones, did either Sean or Billy actually enter a PIN on Todd's phone from what I saw it didn't look like they did, which suggests that the phone was not locked so didn't require a PIN to access it.

It's not unknown where punters buy off-plan and unseen, but more likely when it's a super-super swanky development, and when money has to be got out of (e.g.) Ruritania fairly pronto, if not quicker. Those are the sort of people who can afford to tie up their money and wait for a couple of years. But then again, "due diligence" is carried out first, as opposed to what seems to be happening here.

That's a very good point and Corrie will expect us to feel sympathy for Alex; a person with learning difficulties.

The only trouble is; I won't feel sympathy for him or Cathy who is likely to go off on one when the dastardly plan is revealed. Even with a learning difficulty Alex is not likeable and neither is Cathy. She's a user as she expected Roy to stump up a large deposit for the flat.

I presume its not a smartphone, then, with access to emails, etc? If it is that is fairly careless/dangerous. It is recommended to PIN-protect a phone especially a smartphone.

When it all finally comes out, and Eileen finds out Todd knew all along, she will no doubt kick him out, say she wants nowt to do with him..........blah blah blah.............then a few months later .......rinse and repeat....... she'll say family is so important..........blah blah blah.............and forgive him and take him back in. There'll be no long term consequences for him at all.

That was the whole original point, they didn't, so no PIN was required to access it. Which was a purely contrived plot device, as it is a massive SOR that Todd wouldn't have a PIN on his phone.

I know it's dangerous ground to criticise an actor with a learning disability but the problem with the Alex actor is that he simply can't act.

Alex is a bag man for Phelan. Most likely on a good commission and a percentage of the take. When every dime is extracted from every pocket possible they'll fold it like a cheap suit. Alex will have his own condo in Florida with an ocean view. It's what Phelan would want for him.

Earlier in the process didn't Alex say that he and his friends watched films there and there were other community groups in the building they were going to convert? But the place they took Eileen to was a huge deserted mill/factory. At least that's what it looked like. It would have taken millions to convert that into flats, surely. And has anyone suggested they've actually been there to look?

It isn't as if there's a flat shortage round Weatherfield! I can't believe that anyone would be so stupid as to give £15k to two dodgy-looking blokes, one of whom recently went bankrupt and is working in someone else's scruffy yard in a tiny back street business.
