They really need to give Mary some new material to work with. I wonder what 'hilarious' and 'outrageous' scenes we will get when she works in the florists, no doubt another story about "mother" which will relate to flowers in some way.
So Mary now simultaneously works as a nanny, in Roy's cafe, the Kabin and now the florists all in one backstreet. Complete nonsense.”
Sir Kenneth Barlow is allowed to like culture because he Sir Kenneth Barlow. He is revered as cultured and high-brow. Roy's love of the arts is acceptable because he's Roy. Anyone else who expresses an interest in theatre, books, classical music, opera, culture etc. is seen as else is seen as a weirdo and mocked.
Mary working in the florists is nonsense just so that she can pop up everywhere, regale us with her stories of mother and all that other rubbish and Tracy can roll her eyes and sneer. Mind you, Corrie need to give Tracy something to do. We ain't ready for another Tracy 'sticks the knife in' campaign just yet.
Mary's like Eva and Sean. They both have second jobs working in the Rovers so they can have more input. Actually, we probably see Eva and Sean working in the Rovers far more than we see Steve, Liz and Michelle!
