But like I said, no need for those silly scenes Monday of the kids trying to get her to leave and blackmailing Tracy if she was already going to leave.

She didn't even get a listing on the credits at the end.

Maybe you have to say a certain number of words before you get your name on the screen!

Dev then did say something like "i'm sure we can work something out", I presume he was just doing the contract thing to please Erica, as he said this line after she left the room (thus implying he was happy with it).

As he supposedly didn't love her, he probably decided spending time with his only son was more important than his wife finding out.

She might have arrived early, or didn't know he friend wasn't coming when she got there, surely the first thing you do in a pub is buy a drink, while you wait, isn't it?

If you are then stood up, you might decide to finish that drink, after all, the place looks friendly enough.

It's what Corrie writers always do - an actor says something in one scene and then it's not mentioned and forgotten in the next relevant scene.

As I said, Mary said she would hand in her notice, Dev then replied that he was sure the could sort something out, therefore Mary was not handing in her notice,

There was nothing said in this scene that was forgotten by the writers, just the viewers it seems

The character of Mary is suffering from the free-range that the writers have to make-up her back story and all the tales and recollections that she comes out with. She's done so much in her past with huge amounts of travelling, different jobs etc, yet she's now stuck in a back street in Manchester doing several pert-time jobs and living at Dev's. Where's her wanderlust and sense of adventure gone? She never even leaves the cobbles now except to collect Asda and Aldi from school.

She'd be much better as a recurring character who keeps disappearing off on travels and adventures and then returning afresh. She needs the motor-home back!

Perhaps she should start doing some competitions again and win another one?!

Perhaps Mother should die and leave her some money? Actually, is Mother still alive or not?

There is no "therefore".

Dev said he was sure they could work something out and nothing more was said about it. That's all we know.

Any conclusions are purely personal ones.

It could be that Dev and Tracey come to some arrangements about Mary's working hours in the shop so she could still do what she is supposed to under her contract with Dev. No-one knows.

Nope, no one knows, but the episode was not left with Mary handing in her notice (did you see her hand in her notice), yes, she offered to, but then Dev said they would be able to sort something out, and that is how it has since played out, with Dev getting all stressy as Erica wants 1 thing, Mary want something else and the kids want another.

All explained by Mary having a chat with the kids, explaining she needs more to do during the day while they are at school, which is fair enough.

Everyone seems to be commenting that Mary handed her notice in, no, she did not, she offered, Dev said it was OK.

Dev said they'd sort something out, but it was never said what was sorted out.

Is Mary working part-time at the florist and part time for Dev? Is Erica taking over Mary's duties for Dev? She didn't seem to want to. Is Dev washing the children's clothes himself?

No-one knows because the writers didn't take it further than they'd sort something out.

No doubt we'll find out what was sorted out in a few episodes time - or maybe we won't and it will all be forgotten.

Mother was dead at one stage but then came back to life.

No doubt we will, but we have not seen Mary handing in her notice to quit, she only said she would, so I am do not know why people are assuming she did, and wanting to know why she is still there.

It doesn't look like anything was resolved though. Mary's still at the florists when the Alahan kids leave school and they're still moaning.

That stall they set up in their lunch break was ludicrous. Tracy moaning about Dev selling flowers was ludicrous. He's always done that. Tracy marched down the street like it was a new thing! We/Tracy didn't know at the time that the kids had set up a stall. And where were their flowers from? The cemetery! Hilarious.

What about Beth the bigamist, eh? A small fine and community service. It came to court fairly quickly. Would that have been done at a magistrates court? Will she now divorce the rat and marry Kirky again?

At one time, Mary was writing her autobiography and she alluded to being abducted by aliens! Maybe she's a fantasist and nutjob a bit too far................

So if Mary took the job in the florists to do in her spare time when she is not doing her job looking after Dev's kids, why was Erica having to mind Asda and Aldi (as Blanche called them)?

Speaking of back stories, when Sharif first came into the show his 'gimmick' was that he was constantly eating sweets, never without a little bag of them in his hand, offering them round - why bother to add that to his character and then just drop it?

It was Gloria IIRC (aka Sheila Grant in Brookie) rathe rather than Blanche. It resonated though, I've not thought of them as anything else since!

I always wonder if mary's tales are meant to be fact or fiction

just watching Friday's...

how hot was that cafe soup that Alex needed a trip to A&E? I'm assuming they sell it at a temperature where you can drink it and not molten lava like?

and why did Cathy HAVE to go and see Alex's dad at lunchtime? why not go in the evening or something?

If she said she would we would naturally assume that she had done unless told otherwise. We don't expect to have to be shown her doing so, not every minutest detail is shown on screen.

Did Alex burn his arm or his hand?

No one in Corrie can ever wait. Everyone seems to be able to leave their jobs as they please to attend to personal stuff. Tina AKA 'me best barmaid' was the expert in just buggering off whenever she liked.

Clearly, she's a fantasist but what is the truth and what is fantasy? That's all part of Mary's allure!

Indeed, but Dev replied by stating they would sort something out (when she offered), why would he say that if he accepted she was going to quit?

If i needed some money and said to me wife i was going down the road to sell my car, but then my wife said i'm sure we can sort something out, surely that would mean we would see what else we could do before selling the car, doesn't it?

To me, it was clear, Erica wasn't happy with the kids, and asked Dev to sort it out, he showed Mary her contract in front of Erica (to please Erica). Mary said she would quit, by now Erica has left the room, and Dev replies that he is sure they can sort something out, as in don't be so hasty in quiting your job.
