She wasn't forced into anything. If we were to examine the facts:

*Owen went into business with a man who is bankrupt and had a temper. He was convinced the flat-conversion contract partnership would solve all their money problems. Katy and Gareh were for the idea, but Izzy was dead-set against it. Anna eventually came around, so he went to the bank and eventually secured a £80k loan.

*Phelan's money didn't initially appear in the shared bank account, so Anna goes off on one to him. It eventually does, so she decides to apologise to him. She sends Phelan a cryptic text message to come around to hers, and trembles. Yes, that's right -- the same Anna Windass who enjoys nagging at men, is a match for anyone and is portrayed as some tough, strong independent woman.

*At some stage (possibly before or during the last point), Izzy told Anna not to confront Phelan alone. She suggested her to tell Owen, and/or have someone in the house.

*When Gary learns of this, he attacks Phelan. Nice going. So while they don't lose the contract, they are made to work as Phelan's slaves.

*Anna sees how hard her boys are working so appeals to Pat. He prepositions her: sleep with him and he would release them from their contract. She didn't mention a word of this to her partner until after, what did that say about their relationship? A good thing she didn't mention it to Gary as he would've lost his head. Anna had time to make a brilliant plan to outsmart him, but didn't. Why did she feel she had to be the one to put an end to it???

Based on the evidence, the whole clan are to blame. Owen for going into business with a crook, Anna for acting like she had no one to turn to, Gary for not using his brain. Izzy was the only one displaying any sort of sense.

Dressed up? She wore a pair of black trousers, hardly dressing up to seduce someone is it?

She did trowel on the make-up though.

As much as this was an unpleasant storyline she was never at any time forced to do it.
She did it of her own free will.

If I had been in her shoes I would have turned up looking very dowdy and unpleasant and not washed.

In fact, if I had been in her situation, I would not have done it as I would have too much pride to lower myself down to the level of prostitution.
She gave Phelan sex for payment in reality.

It would be great if Phelan gets his comeuppance, but I suspect that he is going to get Jason's builders yard unless Leanne's new love is a builder. If he is, then he will get it.

No reason not to write about Phelan though or discuss the rights and wrongs of what happened between him and Anna. But let's just try to keep off the subject of personal retribution and chopping people's bits off.

I realise I have no right to ask this of the posters here but please can we not go too far just in case the thread gets closed? I hope the other SOR posters don't mind me suggesting that any further discussion on the topic matter mentioned above: 'of personal retribution and chopping people's bits off' are perhaps posted on the other thread ( http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2130872 ) because it already has a lot of posts on the topic and it is was well on the wane. None of the men involved - Gary, Owen or Phelan acted with any integrity. They were all a bunch of idiots trying to be the alpha male. Anna acted like a fool too. She asked Phelan round to speak to him and then put make-up on the night she met him in the hotel. This was poor writing from Corrie. Whatever point they were trying to make was lost in the unbelievable occurrences in the plot. Then there was also that stupid bit when Owen doused the site with petrol. Then he and Anna cleaned it up. Rubbish storylining.

And for those reasons the story belongs on this thread and is also the reason so many make fun of the whole Phelan and Anna fiasco.

I don't disagree with that. You're right. It is the reason the whole episode is scoffed at. But the more personal stuff and retribution doesn't. That's why I also said in the post before: No reason not to write about Phelan though or discuss the rights and wrongs of what happened between him and Anna.

going back to Ken and Nesta Vipers or whatever her name was, during their relationship I found it odd that she never introduced Ken to Alex, in fact Alex dissapeared for the whole story of Ken and Nesta, then returns when it's finished

also with Alex I think the writers are trying too hard to have Alex say inappropriate thing because he has a learning difficulty, having worked with adults with Downs and other disabilities like Autism, they can say inappropriate things sometimes but not all the time

If a man can be sexually assaulted by a woman he doesn't fancy there's something wrong with that man. A woman assaulting a man isn't possible unless he's excited at the prospect - it can't happen if he isn't. Some men have a power complex and just need a suitable aperture, active or passive, to exert that power. So I wouldn't mutilate a woman for something she can't do.

Anna dressed herself up to give her confidence for what she had to do to safe her partner and son.

Obviously men and women will view this act differently. And I view it from the perspectve of someone who has dealt with a few cases of rape and sexual coercion.

There have been cases of female abusing / raping males.
Obviously not as money as male on female, but they do happen.

I am not a man hater. Quite the opposite. There are many men I admire and some I fancy, even at my advanced age.

As I have said I will do what is necessary to protect my partner and son. What I am against is men using sex for power, having dealt with cases of rape and coercion, and seen the effects they can have for years on the victim.

Jamie was doing that as well with getting revenge on Steph by posting photos on the internet. Unfortunately we haven't left behind the attitude that women can be trollops if they sleep around, but men are heroes if they sleep with many women.

It's a bit sexist to suggest a man can't be raped by a woman isn't it? Some women are stronger than some men so it is possible it can happen.

Of course it's sexist! Nothing to do with strength, but the fact that biologically men and women are different. Men have to be "active"; women don't.

I am guessing the writer has never dialled 999 for an ambulance? You dont just ring up give an address and thats it. They order the ambuance then you have to answer a series of questions while the ambulance is on route
