Why are you finding it so hard to accept that I acknowledge the writers have changed the story from she did have an abortion to she lied about having an abortion?

I only added the last sentence because some seem to believe that if a woman says she has had an abortion she has in fact had one. Some say she DID have an abortion, but he writers have decided she didn't. We have to accept the current story or the rest makes even less sense.”

I too thought you had to be 18

16 is the minimum age to purchase a scratchcard or lottery ticket and always has been since the lottery started in 1994. Not sure about the age to cash in the winnings

The lottery website states:

Players must be 16 or over and physically located in the UK or Isle of Man.

so it seems maria has been charged and seemingly made a first appearance in front of the magistrates who have would have ensured that someone on a murder charge was properly represented. even assuming that the prison officer's grapevine had not told local solicitors that there was such a juicy morsel unrepresented in their prison, the legal sharks would have been fighting for her case at the magistrates court.

i don't know whether we missed all the interviews at the police station but no detective worth her salt would consider interviewing and charging a murder suspect without a solicitor present as it leaves so much open to challenge later as well as the small question of so little evidence against the accused prior to charging.

poorly researched as usual, not even close to what actually goes on, all for the sake of a story line, although the writers do manage to get in a clever remark from craig about solicitors fees bang in the middle of two silly typical craig remarks.

oops it is back on with a ridiculous scene in the prison visiting area

I dont know how it goes there but It's a typical move by lawyers when they have a case that looks like a loser, they ask lots of outlandish questions to the police and witnesses that bring on lots of objections by the prosecution. Most of them are sustained. They do this hoping the judge has made an error in law when they go to appeal court.

So the police are going to see whether this worker turns up to work tomorrow.

SERIOUSLY!!

Of course she's not going to turn up now. Just take a picture of her and show her to the manager/co-workers. Ask if the co-workers know where she hangs out, what details did the manger have for her including address/bank details etc

Dev tells the kids Erica has left. Dev is sad. The kids say sorry and can Erica come back. But it's all a devious trick and Dev and Erica have been playing the kids. What fun! What high jinks!

Yards and buildings can be hired by the month. If you are interested, Phelan has the contact number (for a fee).”

Thanks for that - it answers all the questions I have ever wanted to ask!

But here's one for you - if Phelan used Jason's 65 grand to get the scam up & running ie buying the land & equipment, there must be a way to retrieve some of the money - 30k of tiles for a start .

I agree with everything you say, I was so annoyed at Corrie tonight because of this inept storyline with the police. The scriptwriters need to do some research or watch how EastEnders do their police storylines.

Exactly. Also he could have taken a pic of her with his phone.

'big' legal aid cases are much fought over in Manchester and probably everywhere else with some firms employing all sort of tricks to get them and to keep them away from their rivals. the strangeways prison riot. this case would not have got past the sergeant's immediate superior, let alone to the crown prosecution service and court.

meanwhile in the real world, greater Manchester police have far more weighty things to keep themselves busy.

How do you know that she never had representation? Just because you arent spoon fed everything it doesnt mean they have done wrong.
Incidentally, no, at this stage they would not be fighting for Marias case. That happens when the case goes to Chambers. Solicitors dont fight murder charges in Crown Court.

It's incredible just how quickly Sally got that plot. How long is it since the last one where Roy met his love, the delectable Cathy?

Those of you who didn't guess Tim's plans for the pot should leave this thread immediately and go and hang their heads in deep, deep shame.

A stretch of reality is that I thought things were supposed to get better under a new producer. They haven't!

That is one funny report. 😅 😅 😅. I was wondering why that detective was so sour faced. I guess she didn't make the invitation list and missed all the fun. I could say something but I won't. That story deserves some dignity.

Whatever happened to Sharif's lot which he shared with Roy?

Maybe Sharif is hiding out there.

Far from it. You tell me,
when do Barristers get involved in a case like this?
Who employers the Barristers?
Why arent Barristers in from the start?
What is the Solicitors role in this.
No one would be fighting for Marias case. You obviously do not understand the relationship between Solicitors and Barristers Chambers

I said earlier on that Maria would not have been charged with such flimsy evidence.
The CPS would have told the lead investigator as much. She would have been released on Police Bail (normally 6 weeks) for further investigation to be allowed.

I didn't. The show has been going through this same phase for the past few producers. Mostly crap with a few decent episodes and scenes, with people having hope the show has finally found improvement. The problem probably lies with more than the producer.

To get back to that story you posted, i f I were a lawyer in that area and had a client charged with being drunk and disorderly I would plead no memory of the alleged event. I would subpoena that cop to the stand and back up the claim that it's quite normal not to remember certain things. Do you think that would fly?

Wouldn't take all that much to set up, a few grand to rent a portacabin, slip a few notes to the real owner of the building and land, and off you go. Bob's your uncle and Fanny's your aunt!

Don't know about the tiles, would take some shifting and you wouldn't get anything like the full value for them!
