there has been no mention of an arranged marriage for any members of the Nazir family but although on the decrease it still occurs amongst Pakistani families in the Manchester area

a friend of mine had his bride found for him by his uncle, the senior male in the family and i recall him meeting several young women whom he did not know from all parts of England and one from Glasgow too over the period of a couple of months. he had the final choice himself so it was not forced.

the sheer number of potential brides together with what he told me about how they were being put on to a short list for him by the family indicated that it is still a common practice for bride and groom. the fiasco we saw was totally unrealistic but i wonder if arranged marriage was a subject that they might not to feature as too touchy and so chose the ridiculous instead.

Why would they? Ken never had further contact with Lawrence due to his homophobia and Lawrence was annoyed with Ken, and James tried to rob Ken before attacking him and going on the run.

They were two characters simply introduced to have Bill Roache's sons on the show. They have no real importance on the history of the show.

Why wouldn't they? This is a forum called SOR and I think we all agree that Corrie producers/script writers bring back all sorts of irrevelant characters for any reason they choose. In your opinion just what characters have "real importance on the history of the show". As they are Ken's son and grandson then you would think they would have been mentioned. Daniel and Adam have (re)appeared from nowhere.

Now, now. It will be flowers from Tracy, hairdo at Audrey's, reception at Nick's Bistro and if needed cars from Steve and Tim. Is the bistro licensed for weddings yet? It would save Corrie a lot of fannying about and bother by going to a registry office/set.

I've edited! Sorry.
Both Sally and Tim and Carla and Nick were married in the Bistro.

no there was a crown court judge in there on hand to give immediate bail to maria to enable aiden to bring her home later that day. the weatherfield legal system is wonderful in the way it works.

Crikey! I forgot about them. What do you remember about Rana and her parents? Was there the hint of some deep, dark secret or scandal? I thought there was a suggestion that her mother was the woman having an affair with Sharif.

LOL! It was hilarious the way the door opened and she rushed in!!!

Aidan rushed off to Maria's flat, then rushed to get her out of prison and was nearly snogging her face off in the car outside thre Rovers. You'd think Eva might just have had the teensiest inkling by now that her boyfriend might have more than a friendly interest Maria's welfare.

And then there's allotment SL. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Daniel and Adam at least have some history, and were in it more than a few episodes. Daniel was linked back to a character from the 1990s and Adam was the son of Ken's daughter and Peter's twin sister Susan. Who was Lawrence linked to? A character who was Ken's girlfriend for about four episodes back in 1960.

The simply fact is the likes of Lawrence and James were simply brought in for the novelty of having Roache's real life sons (with the latter getting a slightly extended stint in 2011). If these random pair haven't been seen for six years or mentioned at all, it is clear the producers aren't interested. Just like they aren't interested with Michelle's "real" son.

Losttripper is partly right. If Maria ( we dont know because we havent been shown) had been to Magistrates to enter a plea then Maria would have needed permission from a Judge to be released on bail. This is called JC (her Solicitor seeing a judge in chambers).
If however she as not yet entered a plea then the CPS can order her immediate release and the case against her dropped

And Caz's arrest? She has committed crimes but are they considered serious?

The most obvious one is Wasting Police Time
.Its an an offence if you make the police think that there is a real danger of safety of a person under ( i think) the criminal law act 1967. This doesnt actually carry a hefty penalty, upto 6 months in prison.
Possibly Perverting The Course Of Justice .
If you make a false allegation which risks the arrest or wrongful conviction of an innocent person its enough for a charge. However Caz hasnt made an allegation but her actions have led to allegations. Perverting The Course of Justice carries a life sentence

wrong again rumpole. a court must have remanded her into custody and a court can let her out. this might be to a crown court judge or the mags depending on whatever situation the sloppy writers created but whatever the process would be police to cps to appropriate court and late on a Friday afternoon it is unlikely to have happened in the corries sor way. perhaps on the Saturday but very possibly the Monday given the way the system works in practice.

your use of the slang expression 'jc 'made me chuckle.

I really dont know where you studied. However, her first appearance at Magistrates would be to enter her name. At this point the Prosecution would demand that she was held under Police Bail (up to 6 weeks maximum). Once charges were ready she would then be called back to court to enter a plea.
After the plea is entered a Magistrate has no power whatsoever over the proceedings and advice would have to be taken from a Crown Court Judge You are right, it has been very sloppily written. Again, if a plea has been entered then release would be within 2 hours of a Judge agreeing. At this stage charges arent dropped.
JC is slang?

I do not want to derail this wonderful thread so will agree to differ.

i find your comments amusing and am grateful that the courts and police are bound by legislation, notably p.a.c.e. and the bail acts and going a bit further the common law following the magna carta and the basic human rights of habeas corpus rather than what you have picked up on your travails.

jc is a term that is not used by lawyers

Zeedan is a beautiful looking man with the most kissable lips, but there's only so much "surly" that a character can be! The writers need to tone him down.

The whole thing is beyond ridiculous, from Caz texting Kate, to suddenly appearing in the doorway, Kate identifying a website Caz had used once before and Caz showing her the webcam that supposedly sat on a shelf that no-one had noticed.

Did the writers really sit around and decide that was a great finale and a brilliant way of bringing it to a conclusion? How old are they? Five?

I am painfully aware that you have zero understanding of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and The Bail Act of 1976 and you are simply trolling and baiting. I have asked to let the thread carry on as normal.
JC is simply a shortened term for Judge In Chambers and is in regular use by Solicitors and Barristers

Back to the original question, where was Caz hiding.

She must have a key but she was sat in a room or flat somewhere when she was watching and texting seconds before, so I don't know.

It will never be explained to us where she was but as you say just by her speed of movement she had to be in the flat.

May I respectfully suggest that you make an appointment at Specsavers!

Then again, perhaps you just need to get out more!

Maria didn't change the locks!

I thought they said the locks had been changed.

Wasn't she in her bedsit or whatever watching what was going on at Maria's and then when Aidan left she rushed over? That still doesn't answer how she got into Maria's flat though.

Any thoughts about that weird scene with Rana pretending she was looking for a book at the doctors? It looked like she grabbed a few boxes of medication. Please say she's not going to suddenly have a blink and you'll miss it addiction. Not sure why it would only come up now just because babies have been mentioned. She had no problem when she accepted Zeedan's proposal and went through with marrying him, despite Zeedan's trust issues after Shariff's affair. Wouldn't she have felt guilty before now to keep something from him after the knock he's suffered?

i assumed they were birth control pills.
but knowing the writers she will probably develop an irattional fear of getting the zika virus and take all manner of tablets to try and stave it off.
