And just when you think you've seen the daftest thing ever, they send Maria down for 12 months.

For a first offence. Where no one was hurt. And where she is no risk to the public.

Come on Corrie. Be better than this.

It's not asking much for him, with all of those years "experience" to try and maintain at least a slight illusion of realism. Or is it?”

It sounded as if one of the lesser known side-effects of a stroke is a sore throat.

That really was so silly. Carrot peeling and chopping while guests wander round with drinks. Getting these everyday activities so wrong is just making the viewers expect bigger mistakes.

And isn't Maria dull. No matter what dreadful things happen to her, she's a strangely passive, uninteresting character. I'm not sure if it's the writing, the acting or a bit of both.

I assume yesterday's and today's episodes were the normal Friday 2 parter, so set on Friday 23rd December.

So why was the factory closed on a normal working day?

How late does Court actually sit on the Friday before Christmas that Maria's case is opened and completed after not starting until they'd been that massive lunch at Maria's?

that would have made a more feasible story line for writing the actress out when when she was on maternity leave. so is Samire Ghadie / Smith / Longchambon just going to kick her heals till 2018 ?

I agree.

What sentence did Beth get for committing bigamy?

Or hasn't she had any punishment for that yet?

Meanwhile across the street is Anna Windass who told the police about Phelan's dodgy dealings yet they did nothing. Then there is David Platt who nearly blows the entire street up, seriously injuring one person yet the police barely investigate despite the Platts being a family who have had a lot of serious dealings with the police over the years. Then again this is a place where a murderer gets off on a technicality and no one bats an eyelid.

Think she got community service

Biggest SOR in my opinion was that Maria got a cell to herself

as maria is the sole carer of Liam she would get a suspended sentence

It'll be the longest she's ever gone without c**k

of course none of this will have any emotional or behavioural impact on Liam what so ever, in complete contrast to the effect parents going to prison has on their children.

Yez, but those kids don't have a Llandudno snowglobe to help them cope.

Wouldn't Maria's time on remand affect her sentence?

Clearly the message they want to send out is 'intentional' bigamy = OK, 'bringing an illegal in' = bad.

Apparently the producers were happy to give Samia time off to avoid burnout, but after what -- five months of full-on action. Even then she hardly did anything groundbreaking.

Are they planning for another "Free the Weatherfield One" campaign?

Agree to all the above. I don't care that Maria is gone for 12 months as not only does her character put me to sleep but the entire Aiden/Eva/Maria triangle is so squirm inducing and boring that it's truly hard to watch. Keep hoping Corrie will finally improve it's story lines. I mean when the best part of the show is the TV set misunderstanding - you've really got a problem.

The SOR are piling up with the worst being the shoddy justice system in Corrie as mentioned above. That NO ONE in the legal system figured out that ZERO work had been done on the flats - meaning that Phelan HAD to have been complicit in the scam just boggles the mind. And the recycled blackmail plot --- wake me when it's over.

Anyway, Merry Christmas from Canada to all the wonderful contributors on this thread. You're truly the most entertaining part of Corrie these days.

Nope that's not true as Samia will still be filming scenes in prison. It might be to allow the Maria/Aidan and Eva storyline to rest so Shayne ward can have paternity leave.

Oh for gawds sake! Prison scenes? Nooooo!

Why is it that CS cannot exist beyond the bubble of the Street with the sole exception (ish) of prison? If we wanted to watch prison dramas we'd be finding out old episodes of "Within These Walls" or the like. Or do I speak only for myself?

How true - I laugh my head off at some of these posts, some really clever retorts too. Some posters on here should be writing the scripts.

Max has a memory box to help him cope with an orphan and he's so happy and bouncy and kind to everybody. (he will grow up into a psycho because, well, look which family he's stuck with, he's got no chance of sanity)

Jack has regenerated into a big smiley kid to cope with loosing his mummy and nearly being flatted by a low flying tram falling on the shop when he was a baby
(notice we have never seen him in devs)

Ruby is just as happy and bouncy which is even more odd with Fizz as a step mum and Hope is probably going to be a crazed cereal killer when she grow up like her daddy was.

lilly copes with no mummy by going invisible.

Simon has coped well by regenerating into a klingon.

amy may be the only kid with both parents but she will become a mini tracey

alahan twins will become nice law abiding citizens

boy corry has a lot of emotionally f'd kids, be interesting to see their character development over the next two decades
