The mention of the Bros tape gave it away - as soon as that was mentioned they might just as well have stuck an arrow labelled "Peter's new girlfriend" on any publicity pictures of her returning.

What was the charge for which Maria was sentenced?

Perhaps conspiracy but if so what about the other party? Was he traced and dealt with himself?

IIRC the shame marriage came out at the end of the Caz murder comedy storyline which means that within three or four weeks the sham marriage came to light, Maria was interviewed and charged, appeared in the Mags Court, remanded to Crown Court, pleaded guilty. Pre sentence report order and written (usually takes a week) and then sentenced at some sort off special private hearing on the last afternoon before Christmas recess.

They say ;Justice delayed is justice denied' so Corrie never delay.

But shouldn't they just get a retired bobby as an occasional police adviser just to get things a teeny bit like realism?

There's so much boosting going on with dvd movies just for once could they show interpol kicking a door in. The local law enforcement seem to be overwhelmed with crime, both real and imagined. It would be nice to see the odd Gendarme on the cobbles. Add a certain joie de vivre.

It came out during the middle of it as Maria told the police about it herself. I think she wanted to give police a reason for Caz's supposed motives and also prove she had nothing to hide.

the back yards seem massive on the new set, the extention was the side of tyrone's kitchen which has been there for years. It was there on the quay street set to but was smaller so less conspicuous.

would they really all camp outside though?

as for Jude turning up at the cafe I think Noris was in contact but could have easily told him to go to number 7

The idea that they would send a single mother with a young son to jail two days before Christmas is preposterous, particularly for an offence like a sham marriage where money didn't even change hands. At the very worst, a woman in her position would receive a suspended sentence - the producers seem to think this is the 19th century though.

Biggest SOR of all was Anna bringing Christmas presents around to the Platts and being given presents in return. Have the writers forgotten that David ran her over a couple of months ago, left her permanently disfigured and has been charged with dangerous driving?

- Mary in Dev's house with Dev, Asha, Aidi and Erica nowhere to be seen (indeed all episode)

- Gail and Audrey deciding to spend the first Christmas since Kylie died and David tried to kill himself abroad

- Liz being absent from McDonalds and Rovers, indeed whole episode

- Sean presumably spending Christmas totally alone, not even in the pub?

- Toyah arrives only to leave 5 minutes later to go to meet Peter, no explanation on screen to Leanne

- Sarah finds out about Bethany's crush on Gary, yet no scenes after Bethany runs away/passes out about anything after that

- Aidan not that arsed the "love of his life" is in jail as of the day before. No sign of Kirk or anyone else all episode.

- Jude knows exactly where to come to meet Mary and Norris knew all episode (presumably) yet showed no signs of it

You often see well-dressed posh birds with lamps on sticks singing close harmony Xmas pop songs on the streets of Salford.

Hale, Alderley Edge or Knutsford maybe . . . actually, not even there.

Exactly, I noticed a few of those things and I no longer watch Corrie full time, makes the show a bit of a joke.

The carol singers standing outside the Rovers complete with lanterns on sticks was dire.

Bethany's teenage angst was very OTT. Staggering round the street and lying in a back alley? And how many times have we seen her put those slimming pills in the bin?!

Eva in that Father Christmas outfit was just so damned cheesy and naff. Loved the kitten scratching Aidan's face though. Surely a bad omen of things to come!

Sally and Michelle squabbling over the TV was ludicrous as was the SL. Who the hell would buy someone a globe for Christmas?

in fact there was no mention of Kevin and Jack, the presents she got back were for Izzy and Jake

It was mentioned that Dev and twins were visiting Erica's family for Christmas as Hindu families do on a regular basis.

I think Lilly was playing with a toy phone she got for Christmas and pretending to phone 'mummy' with Max and David playing along

and as said no signs of sadness or emotion at missing Kylie on their first Christmas without her. I'm sure those who have lost loved ones, as i have, would agree that the first Christmas without them sucks big time

There was a throwaway line at Roy's from Mary that Dev and his family were visiting Erica's mum for Christmas

There was a throwaway line from Leanne after David had called her to say that Gail & Audrey were with Steven in Milan

There was a throwaway line from either Steve or Michelle that Liz was with Andy in Spain

There was no prior mention of any of these characters ever saying beforehand that they were going away for Christmas but yet other characters had to hastily give explanations as to their absence on the day itself

I thought that odd too. If they know cast absences they can write it in in advance but itnall seemed rushed.

Would Sarah and Gary really smooch like that in the living room in front of the kids? And I thought Sarah saying Bethany couldn't keep her new watch if she wasn't ok with Gary was unrealistic too.

And how cheeky is Billy taking the homeless girl to Eileen's without asking first? I hope she doesn't rob the place - Eileen would skin him alive.
