With fans like that who needs enemies! EE and ED fans would never ridicule the show like this. In fact, its quite the opposite on here. As soon as any negative thread starts the usual suspects show up in droves to defend the show and bully the negative posters off here. Really think its time the mods locked this thread, 566 pages of drivel and not in any way constructive.

Well, bullying people who have a differing opinion is really not something to be proud of.

I cannot believe that the other soaps are that perfect that they deserve no criticism at all.

As has already been said by others, I am a long term Corrie fan and just saddened by it's decline. It's no use pretending everything's fine when it's obviously not. The criticism is funny and light-hearted most of the time.

BIB What does this mean? You're moaning about this being a negative thread. You talk about other negative threads. You say posters turn up on here to bully others off! So, according to your logic posters from this thread come on this thread to bully others on other threads!?

This is a long running, successful thread. The mods do not need to close it just because you don't like it.
I think what they mean is if a SOR thread was started about EE or ED it wouldn't last long as the diehard fans of EE or ED would whinge about people being negative about their favourite soap so the thread wouldn't survive like this one about Corrie has, and to a certain extent I agree certainly about EE anything that casts even the slightest negativity about EE gets pounced on.

I'm a huge fan of EE but I don't even look for SOR's when its on. I guess its a sort of habit I've got into with Corrie, in that I watch it, spot something, come onto this thread and join the many others who have also spotted something.

I even read stuff on here that I missed on Corrie and I sit here and find myself nodding in agreement.

This is a great thread. Its the only one I go on in the Soaps section.

Long may it continue

I agree about this thread it's great to come on here and have a bit of fun, but you must have noticed that if anyone criticises EE they soon get called out on it and bullied into submission.

I'm a massive fan of Corrie and I do enjoy reading this thread, but I have always wondered why there's no EE or ED versions to even It out surely that's only fair

Some links were posted yesterday to various threads attempting to start SOR threads for EE and ED. None had much momentum and they all died away.

I don't watch ED but EE, whilst not perfect, it does IMO have that bit more credability and realism in its plots, or at least in the smaller details and characterisation. Okay there have been periods when it's been bad, OTT and characters have acted out of character but overall the writing and storylining is far tighter than Corrie's.

In some ways I wish this thread wasn't so busy but it is fun, humorous and informative - but at the end of the day, if Corrie didn't make spotting SORs so easy, then it wouldn't be needed either.

I'm behind as usual as been working over the festive period, but surely Jack is old enough to know how to call 999? They're teaching my son 'people who help us' at school and he's only in reception

Johnny's posh yacht owning customer, if she's that posh and rich wouldn't she have something better to do on NYE that go to a party of someone she barely knows in a back street flat?

Billy has become a dreadful character.

'The Vicar Of Weathie' could have been great but he has been allowed to descend into a pathetic, needy do-gooder. If he is an example of today's clergy then no wonder our churches are emptying.

Of course to develop his character properly we would have had to be taken out of The Street and into his parish more (wherever that is, it always looks in the countryside somewhere) We got a couple of scenes in the vicarage and in the church (remember his breakdown at the christening )

He is no longer credible..........get rid .........please.

Why have a vicar when none of the resident characters in the Street actually go to church on Sundays now that Emily has left?

Of course Corrie has more than its fair share of funerals and weddings to keep him busy.

Jack would be in year two so would know exactly what to do, but as we know corry treat all children as cute little babies then once they hit puberty they become obnoxious teens

corry writers do not occupy the same planet as real children. toddlers in nappies have got help by going outside, grabbing the first person they see, saying "Mummy" and pointing to the house.

as for the yacht it's not all about swanning around on it saying look at me i have a yacht, you have to be able to sail the dam thing in open seas without the need for the RNLI

again corry writers misconception of what having a yacht entails.

I think the biggest problem corry has is ITV over using it to jack up other shows the im a dead entity, sorry im a celebrity. BBC dont make EE the big programme to jack up the others, sticking on lots more episode either side of say 'strickly'. because if this it does not loose quality due to quantity. Same with Emmerdale, it;s not used as a ratings boost for other shows.

how many of us only watch BGT because it;s got corry wrapped round it, i don't

I don't get why Toyah and Peter are so bothered about keeping their relationship secret from anyone.
Toyah dumped Toby and Peter"s single, plus he's a serial cheat/bigamist anyway and everyone knows this.
If Leanne's meant to have pangs of jealousy, she could remind herself that she's also a cheater and just happens to be carrying a married man's child.
The merry-go-round of Corrie residents swapping and sharing partners is bonkers.
They should change the theme tune to Duelling Banjoes as all the kids will be related at some point in the future.

Is Peter still supposed to get a taxi driver licence and is it planned for him to be the one who will have to take Leanne to the hospital when she suddenly goes into labour and there are no other driver available, maybe he will have to deliver the baby when they suddenly realise they won't make to the hospital in time.

Whilst we're on the topic of EE - the Mitchell sister's death has been handled very well. If it was Corrie they'd not only be dead but buried as well by now in less than a week. Michael was dead and buried in less than a week. Mary met her son, decided to move to SA, left and then changed her mind in less than a week.

Corrie have no idea how to pace SLs. You are right EE tend to plan much better. Corrie don't seem to care.

Equally Steve could have to be taxi driver/delivery man...

I've yet to meet an estate agent who would come round a remove their 'For Sale' signs so quickly!
That was ridiculous, Roy literally had a conversation with Cathy and decided to stay and almost instantly somebody was taking his for sale sign down. In real life I bet you would wait days for that to happen, the estate agent guy must have had a premonition and been waiting around the corner. It is an accumulation of little things similar to that that make this programme to hard to watch these days.

BONKers being the operative word

they are all a load of' bonkers'. I'm expecing a major STI storyline to hit soon with all the character over the legal age to get a dose of the stingy williys and fuzzy fannys

One of the most poor executed storylines in a very long time.

Did I nod off and miss why Cathy was randomly walking down the street anyway? Presumably they've got her old house out of the warehouse to live in so she'd have no business being there. If I'd split up with someone under bad terms like her I'd be keeping my distance

omg, Billy needs to be axed ASAP.
He is the most pointless character on the street and has regressed massively since he first appeared on our screens.
Amen!

Cathy said at one point she had tenants in her house, and she still seems to be living at Yasmeen's. And is Alya still at the ramshackle house of Fiz and Tyrone? I don't think we've heard otherwise unless I missed it.

Billy playing the martyr by sleeping rough on the streets with Shona, but then slipping off back to Eileen's for a shower the next morning.

My husband and I have been watching since the 1970s and we still enjoy it in some respects e.g. familiar characters, a few of whom you care about. There are spells when it improves e.g. I quite liked the Phelan storyline until it started to go OTT with him and Andy which has had a second personality transplant.

However, that doesn't stop us laughing at or commenting on the glaringly ridiculous storylines (I still think Emily going to Peru is the most stupid storyline ever as has been discussed here many times)

Alya's now sharing Kate's flat.
