most factory cleaning jobs I know of are like maybe 2-3 per morning max.

There's too many of the cast working at the factory now. It's just now a dumping ground for characters, some of whom have jobs on the side. Don't think Beth, Kirky and Sinead would be happy earning a pittance even if they live together.

Carla just assuming that Nick forgot his keys, because that's the only possible explanation for someone knocking on her door. I can't remember all of the injuries that Carla had but it was a long list that included bruised/broken ribs. So why is she back at work and shouting with no pain or discomfort whatsoever?

She's always on the scrounge for money one way or another, so would obviously still be claiming it, even though she's living with a partner. That is if pensions and benefits existed in Corrie, which they dont. I'd imagine Jenny , as well, having a mental health problem, would getting some sort of disability benefit to live on, but instead she has to demean herself being treated like dirt by those idiots who work in the factory.

As far as I can see from the government website, she wouldn't be applicable for Bereavement Allowance (previously known as widow's pension) because:

*she wasn't over 45 when her husband died
*she is living with another person as though they are married
*is bringing up children (you could possibly claim Widowed Parent’s Allowance instead under certain circumstances).

God knows why he can't babysit Maria's flat while she is away which would be the most logical arrangement for him.
In fact, a young man renting a room in the same house as a family with young kids is a very strange set-up and a silly SOR. If he can afford to pay an extra £50 a month then surely he can afford a little bedsit somewhere....Jenny's one should be vacant now.

Jenny isn't under 40. When she first came into the show in approx 1986 she was a school girl of about 14/15 I think so that would make her mid-40s now

Too funny - so just the same as in Canada. One thing that does ring true is the flat sharing. Rents are so high, I'm guessing, that people budge in together. I remember staying in Clapham Common years ago with a friend and at least 3 people were sharing a fairly small row flat. On my last visit in Nov. I stayed at an Air BnB in London only to find I was sharing it with at least 4 other full time young lodgers! However, agree that Luke really could be flat siting for Maria instead of overpaying for a squalid room at Ty's. That one makes no sense.

One thing strikes me as not being true to the Brit character in Corrie and that's the horrific judgemental character of everyone on the street - except when it comes to Tracy. The Brits I know are far more tolerant than many Americans and just not as nasty. The treatment of Jenny at the factory seems very far fetched.


Same. I remember the pubs in Germany when I lived there way back when - and the smoke was so thick it was unbearable. I ended up never going. Very few people smoke in Canada now, and it would be very rare to see as much on screen smoking as we see on Corrie. Smoking is much more common in Europe.
