how much cleaning is there to do in that factory??

most factory cleaning jobs I know of are like maybe 2-3 per morning max.
jenny was there at.... 8 did aiden say? before the rest of the workforce arrived. and she was still mooching about when the workers were having their lunch break.

This. Just to allow as much verbal abuse against Jenny as possible to be seen.

Sally is the worst and how anyone finds this character amusing is beyond me. They have ruined her beyond recognition from her earlier days but I guess like everyone else on there, it will all be forgotten and forgiven and we will have the silly, snobby Sally back trying to get support for her stupid election campaign.

Thing is, did Jenny even want that lousy job? Aiden comes in to buy a paper or something and within 2 mins Rita has got her railroaded into the cleaners job, she never even got a say in it! So much for Rita saying to her not to worry about rent and make yourself at home, then next minute pushes her into a job where she must have known she'd be given a hard time.

Jenny isn't under 40. When she first came into the show in approx 1986 she was a school girl of about 14/15 I think so that would make her mid-40s now

The actress is 45 - born the day after my elder son

Same. I remember the pubs in Germany when I lived there way back when - and the smoke was so thick it was unbearable. I ended up never going. Very few people smoke in Canada now, and it would be very rare to see as much on screen smoking as we see on Corrie. Smoking is much more common in Europe.
I went to a football match at Mainz abt 18 months ago, and there was a HUGE amount of smoking in the stadium

Something goes missing. Jenny is the first one to be accused. Yawn!!!! Pull the other one.

If someone has nicked a tenner of Beth at the workplace then how stupid can she be for not locking her locker. Same goes for Sean and his french fancy.
Wouldn't they have also suspected Fiz, after her moaning about having to sell her engagement ring and how they're living on Fresco's bargain food range?

What happened to the GP surgery?
We used to see Gail working in their few years back when we had the GP character can't recall his name
I'm sure I read a spoiler that said
Spoiler

Is that the same apartments that have a keycode controlled main entrance by any chance how did Robert know the keycode?
Good point. When the place was on fire, no one could get in to rescue Carla because of the key code.

This is so unrealistic. Jenny said I need a job and Rita said something will turn up. At that precise moment in walks a boss at the local factory who just happens to need a cleaner so tells her to start straight away. No applications form, no interview, no references. Nothing. How about a P45 etc. Nope. Not needed. Just start. Whatever next? Jenny goes for a job working with young children. They find out she was recently imprisoned for abducting a young child. Never mind says the new employer. We all make mistakes. Start today!!

I was shouting at the screen at this point "How on earth do you know it's him, you stupid woman"

It was all contrived to allow Carla to take on a look of horror and fear when she saw Robert standing there. It was pathetic.
Same here

BIB - and they even contrived to emphasise this more by having her open the door, with her back to it, as you do!

And that was another thing Tracy managed to get through that door too, but Tracy does seem to have the ability to get through locked doors like the fire door at the Bistro.

...................

One thing strikes me as not being true to the Brit character in Corrie and that's the horrific judgemental character of everyone on the street - except when it comes to Tracy. The Brits I know are far more tolerant than many Americans and just not as nasty. The treatment of Jenny at the factory seems very far fetched. .............................
You wouldn't say that if you read my local newspaper. If there's a story of someone falling on hard times as there is this morning where a widow aged 50 has died suddenly and her children aged 27, 18 and 15 have to find £3,000 for a basic funeral. Most people commenting are sympathetic and offering sensible advice of even offering a small amount of money towards the cost, but there's always one who says "it's easier to beg through a newspaper than get help from the DWP and they might even make a profit!" or on the local council stopping free parking for tax exempt vehicles for disabled people more than half the comments are that "most of them aren't disabled anyway".

Not all people are tolerant and many are judgemental.

The councillor story is going to bore me to tears
I used to like her when she was a normal sensible character , shes now a caricature

Yes how did Tracy get passed the door to the apartments without knowing the key code on the night of the fire, also managed to get in through a fire door to the Bistro from the outside which is impossible as fire doors don't have handles on the outside and are barred from the inside?

2 minutes? That would be a long time to find a job in Corrie. Just like when Kathy's nephew got a job in the cafe , it took but a few seconds!

That street has seen more fire and floods than the Bible.

Funny that none of the usual SOR thread posters seem to pick up on things like that, they seem more concern about people just happening to be walking down the street when someone needs to see or talk to them.

I think she just nipped in after a resident opened the door.

What about the closed fire door at the Bistro?

You certainly must've been bored to look all that up! Fizzle and Toblerone, good names However, she would have been able to claim it for her and Hope before she moved in to Tyrone's pigsty and started living with him, and unless someone reported her, the DWP would be none the wiser. Of course her being such an honest person and not that bothered about money, she would have informed them herself, wouldn't she?
True, I can see her just taking everything and then screaming like a banshee and blaming everyone else when she's caught out. God I can't stand her...

She even had the cheek to ask Toblerone (still laughing at that!) to screw more money out of Luke. What a bloomin cheek , especially now that she's buying cheap rubbish food and turning off the heating, or does she buy in two different lots of food, for instance, steak for Luke and pigs trotters or tripe for Ty?
Why on earth would he want to lodge there anyway, bad enough having to work all day with the thicko without living in his grotty house as well?
Just wondering do people in poky houses still take in lodgers nowadays, thought that went out 50 years ago?

Well its always there for reference. As I said, either she trotted in behind someone or something obvious, and the discussion was mainly about how Leanne knew the code. (because of Nick) .

Some people are more inclined to thoughts and feelings, and some to figures and facts, so some will notice one kind of mistake and some another.
There is no right or wrong.

Not really bothered about what they get wrong or right just watch soaps for fun to unwind and relax of an evening if I let myself worry about what goes on in them I would never get to sleep that night afterwards, I do whoever notice the odd thing but just laugh at it rather than worry about it and I certainly don't have the time or inclination to go over everything that's said or done with a fine tooth comb as if the world depended on it that's for sure..

Whatever floats your boat is fine by me, but if you can enjoy the show and laugh at the mistakes (as most of us do) then that must be a good thing, I think?

Not just the mistakes that i laugh at it's the attempts at trying to cover real life issues that make me laugh too the only reason I would need a help line after an episode is because my sides are hurting through laughing so much,

As far as I can see from the government website, she wouldn't be applicable for Bereavement Allowance (previously known as widow's pension) because:

*she wasn't over 45 when her husband died
*she is living with another person as though they are married
*is bringing up children (you could possibly claim Widowed Parent’s Allowance instead under certain circumstances).

BUT

She also wouldn't be applicable for Widowed Parent's Allowance because:
*she is living with another person as though they are married.

You can tell I'm bored when I start to give a damn about the SOR involving Fizzle and Toblerone. Also him staring at those fish and chips was just f#/ing ridiculous. Has he got *no* self control? Tit.
Wasn't that ridiculous? So obviously done. Who would want to sit next to Tyrone Dobbs with him slobbering and drooling over yer fish and chips? It was like when the workhouse kids in Oliver! salivating when they see the governors' dinner!

Luke offering to pay an extra £50 a month to live in squalor?!!
God knows why he can't babysit Maria's flat while she is away which would be the most logical arrangement for him.
In fact, a young man renting a room in the same house as a family with young kids is a very strange set-up and a silly SOR. If he can afford to pay an extra £50 a month then surely he can afford a little bedsit somewhere....Jenny's one should be vacant now.
And Luke just offered to cough up without even being asked.

Staying in Maria's flat sounds far too logical. He's at Tyrone's. Getting lots of home comforts; like his washing done, his ironing done, his bed changed and good quality home-cooked food.

As you said; why would Luke pay extra to live in that dump? The food was pig swill before the spending cuts. What is it like now?

For those of you who know Les Miserables - Fiz and Tyrone - The Thenardiers

Food beyond compare. Food beyond belief
Mix it in a mincer and pretend it's beef
Kidney of a horse, liver of a cat
Filling up the sausages with this and that
Residents are more than welcome
Bridal suite is occupied
Reasonable charges
Plus some little extras on the side!

Charge 'em for the lice, extra for the mice
Two percent for looking in the mirror twice
Here a little slice, there a little cut
Three percent for sleeping with the window shut
When it comes to fixing prices
There are a lot of tricks I knows
How it all increases, all them bits and pieces
Jesus! It's amazing how it grows!

Poor Luke. Hope none of the neighbourhood pets have gone missing!
