Meat paste was quite popular back in the 70's and beyond. It became less popular after that.

This thread used to be such a friendly place. Now it's all ignore lists, blocking posters and accusations of blowing one's own trumpet.
![]() ![]() The whole meat paste saga is beyond ridiculous too. |

![]() ![]() The whole meat paste saga is beyond ridiculous too. My reference to ignoring is just one person, the accusations drift away eventually, I just let the off-topic sagas blow away. The oddest thing is when we're trolled by posters who criticise us for commenting on SORs - I guess they're die-hard fans who can see no wrong in the demise of a great soap? They drift away too though. Keep enjoying. |

Why does Ty have to stay in the garage for lunch anyway? He only lives across the road, he could nip home for his sandwiches.
Quote:
If you lived in Ty's house would you want to eat there, the garage is probably a more hygienic place to eat.
Quote:
I certainly wouldn't want to be looking at that clashing wallpaper.
Quote:
Ty and Fizz remind me of Wayne and Waynetta Slob from the Harry Enfield show.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fb-f8CTafHs Quote:
They remind me of The Twits a bit, although they don't hate each other. We don't get to see them in bed (thank goodness), but I imagine they'd look just like The Twits there.
Keeping Up Appearances - Onslow and Daisy The Simpsons - Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel and his wife/sister Brandine Les Miserables - The Thenardiers Sweeney Todd - Mrs Lovett and Sweeney Todd Fiz and Ty are such multi-layered characters they could be any of these! ![]() ![]() ![]() https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...a800a749e3.jpg http://www.puremovies.co.uk/wp-conte...ob_487012j.jpg https://d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.ne..._Spaghetti.PNG http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...20130512161829 http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...20110526013105 https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...732fc608ae.jpg Quote:
I'm waiting on Fiz raiding wheelie bins in the ginnel. Kind of like a cartoon where an alley cat uses a dustbin lid as a plate
Ken startles her whilst walking Eccles, she hisses at him, eyes wild and wide, and runs off like a rat... I've been through many a time where I have literally no money (such as right now!), but at least I know how to cook. My house is full of dried food, stock, rice/couscous etc so you can eat well for pennies. I suppose that's how soaps show someone is poor though - hit them in the stomach (I watch a show called River City which has a debt storyline which had them eating a can of beans mixed with a can of sweetcorn for tea *boke*). I can't get over Tyrone slobbering over Luke's lunch. My dogs have more restraint. With the Jenny storyline, tbh we'd never have noticed if she did kidnap Jack as we never see him anyway ![]() Tyrone and his slobbering. ![]() Quote:
That lunch scene with Tyrone was so pathetic. Why could he not exist on just sandwiches? How much is a cheap packet of own brand ham in Frescos? Probably cheaper than meat paste. What is meat paste anyway I've never heard of it.
It's no wonder they have no money if Ty expects fish and chips every lunch time and Fiz is blowing her money on cakes from Roys every tea break. And a couple of pints of cider for her lunch in the Rovers. And don't get me started on those useless looking new multicoloured lockers in the Factory. Specially shipped in for one episode from CBeebies so someone could steal stuff out of them. What do they all need a locker for - it's ludicrous! One coat, a handbag and a small lunchbox. One for each of the employees - so that takes up the space of 4 extra sewing machines. And Johnny 'Village Idiot' Connor. What a half wit. A complete obtuse thicko. No professional skills, no social skills. How is he as Carla said 'the best in the business'? The best at what exactly?? No technology skills, no people skills, shows zero authority, no ambition. We've never seen him do any deal or mention any figures or anything like that. It's like a creche there in Carla's office with her trying to mind the Connors and do her work at the same time. See my reply above for their next move! You forgot the bacon barms. I wondered if the lockers were new. Couldn't be sure though as they've used stealing from the lockers in the factory before. You forgot the bacon barms. You summed up Johnny Connor perfectly. He has done nothing to make him look smart. Carla's comment was stupid. What do three Connors do in that office that warrants management status? Quote:
Maybe it's time for fiz to start thinking of herself for a change. Instead of spending money on extravagant lunches for that disinherited misbegotten fiancee of hers, she should get those much needed braces for her teeth. They would have to be military grade stainless steel and they ain't cheap. Somehow I can't see Ty going for it, his love of bacon barms is greater than his love for poor fiz. It wouldn't bother him that she could eat corn on the cob through a picket fence. This unselfish icon fiz. Where do we find such women.

I'm wondering if I've ever managed to upset or bore anyone enough for them to ignore me I don't think so, and I hope not, but you never know ![]() There is a "view post" button so you can choose to see your ignored poster's posts if you like. I often do this because sometimes I put someone on ignore not because I cant stand them, but to remind me that they may be extra sensitive, take things the wrong way, have an obsession about something etc as a warning to myself to tread carefully. Others I just literally ignore. ![]() It is unfortunate that you can still see your ignoree's post if it is quoted by someone else. Quote:
I understand what you are saying, but as I said nothing bothers me enough to put anyone on ignore list and certainly not what is just a bit of light-hearted forum banter.

I've been coming on this thread for years, as I enjoy a good laugh, I have to say I miss certain posters who were so funny. There are certain people now who post such serious, long winded posts that I find dull and boring, I won't mention any names, but I still enjoy this thread and long may it continue.

So you have put user on ignore just for a bit of forum banter and imply they are a troll when all they were doing was joining in with the fun of the SOR thread, I suppose I will be next on your ignores list.

Yes, but what might be light hearted banter to some can be bullying to others.

I have seen some very innocuous posts removed so that hardly means anything, it seems to me that someone is being singled out here, not sure why.

I remember having cheap chicken paste pieces back in the 80s and 90s. Bloody loved the stuff. Don't think I could touch it these days though! We used to give the dog the empty jar to get the last bits out
![]() ![]() It's a Scottish thing is pieces, used to love a piece and jam! Ha ha.

I just looked to see how much paste costs, and the "Freshco fundamental" version looks a lot more appealing than the usual one.
http://www.tesco.com/groceries/produ.../?id=250329488 http://www.tesco.com/groceries/produ...Q&gclsrc=aw.ds You would only get a couple of buttys from them though, I think? |

The internet provides a suspension of reality in that when using it, people just ditch their natural good manners to snipe at others. Or are people as rude in reality that they make sniping and snide remarks at a lady senior citizen because they disagree with her or because she likes to be accurate in what she says?
Or to put it another way, what would people do if their own mothers or even grandmas were the recipient of some of the snide remarks we see thrown at senior citizens on here just for acting like senior citizens do. No names, no pack drill. Can this thread now revert to having the SORs as our common target instead of each other? |
