Did anybody else notice Sally's slip up in Ken's. When they were looking through Audrey's address book Sally said to Audrey, "Emily most of these people must be dead" (or something along those lines). Just shows that nothing is corrected, how could no one have noticed she called her Emily?

I know we're used to the fact that, whenever a character wants to do something which is usually booked up years in advance, there'll always be a cancellation. But it's the first time we've had a councillor cancelled.

Would there really be a by-election a month or so before a Council Election? By the time the necessary processes have been gone through, nominations invited and closed, all the election premises, officials and staff organised, it could be April before it could be held.

In any event, would there be a by-election just because a councillor's been arrested? There'd have to be a trial, a guilty verdict and a prison sentence, wouldn't there? I know absolutely nothing about election law, but that's the way it seems to me. Unless he resigned, and I didn't notice, of course.

As per usual lately, the writers refuse to gradually build up a storyline, instead it's BAM this is happening now, get used to it!

Look at Jenny's return; Rita shows an interest in technology out of the blue, learns how to use social media and finds Jenny and has her back living on the street all in the course of a few episodes. Plot device tablet will disappear never to be mentioned again.

I have to presume storylines are mapped out in advance, even just at a skeleton level and then fleshed out as scripts are written. Surely they could have written a few throwaway lines over the course of a few weeks/months about Rita learning about social media, emailing Emily, just off Skype with Mavis etc, before leading to Jenny.

It's the same with Emily leaving to go to Peru, the actress hardly decided overnight that she needed a break, so why wait until her last few episodes to write her out? Again a few scenes here and there over a period would have allowed for some buildup and a more natural and believable exit.

I know...it was one of those scenes that just leaves you thinking 'why?!'

why was she in the factory at all?
if she's been kept a slave by that driscoll dude, surely he'd be keeping her at home? and if she's managed to get away why the hell is she hanging about the factory?!

Since Christmas I have started watching Corrie again after about a 2 year break.

Well I must say it really is comedy gold. Pure 24 carat gold comedy of the highest quality.
The writers clearly have not got a clue what they are doing and just seem to cobble together any old nonsense in a mad rush to get something out to be broadcast.

I am not complaining as it is really unintentionally funny and this thread adds to the fun.

And the trainee chef has never done even the most basic cookery course, just walked in off the street and was hired having been working in a gym up until then.

This is the problem I have with the show. No build-up, no slow-burn storylines.




Then you have the extreme opposites. The tedious Callum/David/Kylie/Sarah saga which seems to have gone on for years and the everlasting misery that is Carla.
