You haven't watched EE in nearly 10 years then. Was there any particular reason you stopped then or did you just give up?

Basically, Dean was abused in prison, it was implied in the script but he wasn't raped. He was never a major character first time round, he was only in it from 2006 - 2008 and when he came back it was implied he'd abused women. He said how he shaved his exes hair off because she cheated on him, he touched up Linda Carter before she slapped him last year and then he raped her and he apparently tries to rape Roxy Mitchell next week.

It's not been bad, I've just felt a bit panicky and restless. I've just had a bath and am eating some Ferrero's nowadays I feel a bit more relaxed.

Well, he's been in charge of EE for two years now and from his beginning in Dec 2013 - Feb 2015 (EE Live Week) he was very good. He made EE exciting again, had surprises and made the show as good as it was in the early 2000's. Then, after Live Week, it's been a mess. Bar a few decent episodes (mostly involving Kat Slater/Moon) it's been average bordering on good. He promises the viewers lots of things and they never live up to the hype. The storylines are dragged out far too long, for example the rape storyline was revealed last Christmas and only now is Shirley finding out. There are also predictable plot twists, such as Fatboy being the person killed on the Christmas eps, the fact they insist the Mitchell's being top dog against others and many other things such as poor acting, poor characterisation and block storytelling.

I'd say he's as bad as Kirkwood now, he's resorting to similar ridiculousness.

I stopped because Dennis Rickman was killed off & the producers p*ssed all over the Watts re-united storyline & it became a mess. A lot more could also have been done with Den & Dennis, plus it came out in one scene between Den & Dennis (when Den was horrible to Dennis that Dennis had been abused in care), but the storyline wasn't mentioned again & didn't go anywhere & there was a lot of potential. I hated that Den was also killed off a second time & while I liked Dennis with Sharon, was fed up that for weeks on end you only heard them say how much they loved each other & the story didn't progress. Loved Den's wife Chrissy as well, but it seemed that the show didn't know exactly what to do with the whole Watts family once back. Den came back with a bang. He then got killed off in a stupid way & not that long after Dennis got killed off. It was such a cop out & all the potential was flushed down the loo.

I didn't realise EE were also doing block storytelling. I thought only Hollyoaks out the soaps do that because of the way it's filmed with a single camera while the other soaps use multi-camera.

Maybe soaps should change producers like clubs do football managers if they're underperforming!!

Ah I see. I remember that period of EE well. I know what you mean, they brought Den back and once he got Phil out the picture they didn't know what to do with him apart from sleep with Zoe and mess up Sharon and Dennis' relationship. I think they killed Den off because of Leslie Granthams webcam antics, not that they knew what to use Den for in the show anyway. I liked Chrissis too, she made Dens murder storyline, which was epic too and made 2005 an excellent year. I hated Dennis being murdered too, and it was Phils fault, goading him into beating up Johnny Allen. Sharons life was ruined when Dennis was murdered and now they've had her shacked up with Phil which has ruined her.


Yeah they have been since DTC has been in charge. It was never that noticeable as it was subtle but this year it's been terrible. There's currently a storyline with a cross dressing funeral director and we waited for ages to find out the secret, it was then revealed when the week was focused on them, Pam (the wife) left and the story hasn't been mentioned since bar a few scenes. The same with Kat ?Moon attempting suicide again, there was a weeks build up to it, she did it on the Friday episode, found then taken to hospital and was given a small scene on the following Monday but not mentioned for a few weeks! It's ridiculous.

I wish they would. DTC was really good up until Live Week then since has p*ssed all over the shows history and storylines.

Well, at least we never have to endure a fresh episode on Christmas Day.

I did hear Peri say she wanted her mum to be happy. So, I think she is forgiving Cameron in order to help him and Leela be together without her causing any awkwardness. I will report the flip side of this argument when I reply to a Madness post in a minute....

I think he started to feel noticeably detached from Leela when he was with Celine. However, he longs to be a real dad to Peri. So, I fear he has only agreed to get back together with Leela as an easy way to see Peri all the time.

Well even all these years later I'm still p*ssed at what a mess they made of potentially great Watts family storylines. They should never have brought Den back if they didn't know what to do with him. I know about the webcam stuff, he got a 2 month suspension. That is still no excuse, they made a total mess of all the Watts storylines & I hated that. The ep's when Den first appeared back was brill, but after that as I said they had no idea what to do with him. Den was a womaniser but making him sleep with Zoe was just wrong.


That sounds awful. Maybe you should stop watching EE like I did? I don't really understand as it sounds like this DTC was already working on the show for months & working well before he changed things so badly & drastically after the LIVE show. I did watch the LIVE show & I remember thinking Adam Woodyat stole the show & that he really is a talented actor.

How has he p*ssed over the shows history?

Santa will have another night off next year, ie February 29th.

I think that is the show's intention with the New Cameron. Old Cameron, (before they turned him into a psyco) only recently seemed happy with Celine & wouldn't get back with Leela when she wanted. Now suddenly he doesn't give a stuff about both of them really & is totally focused on Peri. Before he wanted to be a good dad to her, now suddenly I think he'll mainly be controlling rather than truly loving!!

Clearly Holly, and wont know which twin is the father, causing Not-Robbie to find out about her and the better twin, and then Not-Robbie arrests Robbie for sexual assult, Holly wanting to keep the affair secret keeps quiet and Robbie gets sent to prison, during which time he records another TV show, then comes back when Holly finally confesses that she wants the better of the twins and Not-Robbie stabs her causing her to lose the baby, he goes crazy and blames it all on Cesc Fabregas for no reason other than most people seem to blame him for things he doesnt do

Yeah I know what you mean. They could've been a brilliant family unit and Den and Dennis are the only people to take down Phil. The episodes were brilliant when they brought him back but after that they had no idea. He was just a man walking around with his hands in his pockets.

I would but I think I'd miss it too much. I haven't bothered catching up on any episodes though that I've missed recently. I like the Carter family and the Massoods, plus Kat now she's back. Well DTC worked on the show back in 2007 before leaving, I don't understand either how he has made such a mess of things after Live Week, it was going so well, then suddenly most aspects of the show went tits up and now you can watch one episode and think it's good and the next will be really bad, like Hollyoaks. Today's episode felt like Groundhog Day with nothing new apart from Fatboys death and somebody knowing he was in the boot, everything else was just repeated. Live Week was brilliant, I agree Adam stole that show and I'm glad he won an award for it.

Basically, Kathy has come back and her husband Gavin, turns out to be Sharons real father and apparently the 'Hello Princess' line Den used to say to Sharon was something Gavin asked Den to call her when he gave her away. Also, apparently the Mitchell's knew people who lived in the square in the 1960's, but, when Den came back, he didn't know who the Mitchell's were and Phil and Grant didn't know anybody when they arrived.

Yeh, it has been a bit easier than I thought in fact.

I admit that I was not anticipating this thread. Today is technically still part of Christmas and there was no new episode of HO last night. I therefore added to the Christmas Thread. I also got fooled initially, in thinking this was just a questionnaire and 2016 prediction thread.


Oh that's a pity Madness. Actually, I've thought of 2 ways you could compromise.

1. Alternate your hours between your family party and ours. Or, if you want to give your family your undivided attention
2. We get an extra day next year. So, can't you postpone your New Year party to a day next year?
