just totally overshadowed the other soaps! The storylines were very good! And also up against the final ever downtown abbey and sill getting the soaps highest ratings of the day! The other soaps I'm sure are very worried.

Congrats to the entity team! The show has interesting engaging and Long lasting storylines! Was so pleased for them!

And bring on the consolidated figures it will be another nail in the coffin for the soaps such as corrie ( which is the new brook side) and emmerdale!

Also it seems the entire episode is hailed a success by TV critics

The episode was a great one. It's a real shame the ratings were lower.

I have a strong feeling tonight will do a lot better.

I agree, Everyone is saying ''EE's lowest rated christmas'' it came out on top in terms of soaps and will probably be around the 7.5 Million mark when actual figures are released

Eastenders is enough to put anyone off ever going to London to live. Everyone seems to fight one another non-stop, get drunk every night, and commit more assaults and murders than any other square 100 yards on earth.

Time they did the right thing and blew up the whole square.

Eastenders was way better than I thought. I used to be a dip in viewer but I might start watching more regularly now.

I did enjoy Emmerdale and think it deserved more viewers but EE most certainly thrashed Corrie. "The nations favourite soap" pfft.

Yea I love how they now have long running stories now more than ever. It brings a more real life element to soap life

what was the xmas storyline?

Personally I think Emmerdale had the best Storyline with Eric awakening from his grief. It was also the better ep.

Eastenders was well acted by Phil and Ian as usual. I expected higher figures after all the hype

I really enjoyed it. I'm not saying I haven't seen better, though a lot of those have a whiff of nostalgia to them that mean we sometimes forget the bad parts of things we loved from years ago.

I hope the momentum continues into tonight's episode, and then the buildup to New Years with Mick and Linda's wedding.
