I honestly don't understand why so many on the forum are begrudging last nights episode. I personally thought it was fatastic, my nerves were shot towards the end!

The opening scene was done brilliantly. I thought we were getting a flashback to Jane at the common initially and then I wondered why Ian was with her. Then before Sharon turned around, I got really spooked out because I thought it was Lucy (she wore her hairstyle quite similarly), not to mention Sharon pointing at Jane! It was excellently done when Jane woke up as I genuinely thought up until that moment it was a flashback to the night of Lucy's death, not a dream.

The Bobby and Denny scenes were great. I did think Denny going through the window (as obviously that's how he ended up on the ground) was extremely harrowing. And I thought the Bobby and Kathy scene was great too. For a minute I thought Bobby was going to kill Kathy the reveal scene between Ian and Bobby was very nicely done too, plus Jane at last accepting that Bobby needs help.

And the best line of the episode was definitely "Sharon! People!" by Phil closely followed by "You old slapper!" I'd actually fogotten Kat was coming back so I was delighted to see her and a perfect introduction and opening line too

I know it didn't feature much, but one of the stand out moments of the episode for me was the way Stacey was behaving. It was eerie. I actually got chills the way she was non responsive and just staring blankly into space. She actually scared me and it just shows how amazing the actress is.

The boot scene was really tense too. The look of pure horror on Ronnie's face when she realised there was someone else in the boot and her freaking out when she saw the car was gone, was great.

Roll on tonight! I don't know why so many didn't enjoy the episode. I was on the edge of my seat throughout! As for deaths, I actually think one of the Beales might die. The way Jane said "this ends today" suggests it might be heading that way, but I hope not! They've had enough heartache and Ian losing another family member (they surely wouldn't kill him?!) would be just too much and he would have another breakdown. I can't wait to find out, as long as it's not Ronnie, Phil, the Beales, Fatboy or Sharon.

I'm in total agreement with you. I don't understand the negativity. In fact I think EE has been great all year, it was only joining here when suddenly I was reading so much negativity. I just wonder if people's view points are clouding their own view but for me I cannot wait for tonight. I genuinely have no idea who is in the boot, its easy to assume Fatboy but we really don't know and the preview shows Vincent deeply upset. I think it might be his mother!

I agree about the acting being great. I really can't wait for the Stacey story to start. Lacey will be amazing again.

I thought it was solid and served its purpose.

While it wasn't as good as some of the brilliant ones of the last decade (2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009) it was certainly better than last year's disappointing Christmas episode. Ditto the awful 2012 with the outcome of Kat shagger.

This has been a pretty up and down year for EE IMO. The best has been excellent, the worst has been boring but not bad. Block storytelling needs to be fixed and no more dragged out plots (Bobby, Dean). Sort those out and things will be more consistently watchable.

I agree about the Dean stuff dragging too long. Its a blessing he is leaving because the Carters will now finally progress forward. That's very needed for them. Dean being there really held them back.
