When Do You Stop Listening To Christmas Songs?
JEFF62
26-12-2015
I have been playing Christmas songs every day since December 1st. I always find that as soon as its Boxing Day its never quite the same. I still listen to a few Christmas songs but as the days go by I find I stop bothering. I just kind of stop. Its not the same although you can play them until January 6th and it still counts. I can't believe its now time to wind down playing Christmas songs again. So when do you stop listening to christmas songs?

MTV Xmas is already gone which seems a bit premature.

That sounds like a nightmare to be in your house.

I don't understand what you mean by this, are you scared of breaking some kind of Christmas code of etiquette?

As soon as I leave work each day, since that is the only place I listen to Christmas songs, because it is forced on us over a tannoy.

When I was a kid radio stations played Christmas songs routinely in January because they were still in the charts. I think that stopped a Hell of a long time ago despite where the songs might be in the listings. There was nothing more depressing as a child for me than getting dressed for school and hearing the happy Xmas songs blaring out the radio on a dark, dreich*, miserable January morning.

I don't wanna hear another Xmas song once the 25th has passed

Yup. Midnight Christmas day is it. It's like watching porn after sex....... Er, I would imagine 😁
I've already unticked them all off my ipod until next December. To be honest I think that Christmas songs and albums are more likely to be streamed than purchased above anything else. I mean who wants a Christmas album as a Christmas present. You'd play it once maybe until next year.
I really don't get why the radio stations keep playing them now.

I don't really choose to listen to them. I only hear them in the shops or on the TV/radio or if someone else in the house is playing them. I've also been to college Christmas parties and Christmas songs were played there.

I continue up to New Year's Eve, but after the 25th Christmas songs don't feature as heavily in the music rotation as earlier in the month.

Before I go to bed tonight, I may play about three more songs, but after that, I am done.

God bless you always!!!

Well for me, once the "big day" comes around and is over and done with for another year, then that is the time to stop. You listen to Christmas songs as a build-up towards "the big day" itself. I have felt this way for a lot of years now.

Xmas day is the last day I play them. Boxing Day it's all over, no more Xmas songs till next year
