Hello I am wanting a tablet that I can plug into a old TV using hdmi, can anyone recommend a tablet that has hdmi output? I I don't want to use an adapter you buy, I want it with hdmi out.

Thanks

The Linx 1010 has HDMI out. When you plug in a HDTV or monitor using a standard micro HDMI to HDMI lead you can change the resolution to suit, so it can run at full 1080P

It can also either copy the tablet display or run as a second display, so you can play a movie on your TV while you surf the net or check your email, or even play a different movie, on the tablets own display.

That link is to the Amazon package where they bundle the free keyboard. It's a very good keyboard, but it is heavy. If you leave that on your desk and just carry the tablet around, what I do, then it won't matter. But carry the keyboard with you and it nearly doubles the weight of the tablet.

Have you considered using a chromecast instead, as that is much less power intensive on a tablet, when using a chromecast friendly app, and no messing with cables.

That's what I use. It also means that you can use your tablet while watching content on your TV.

Yes I've considered chromecast but I will not always be near a wifi connection, correctly me if I'm wrong but you can still miracast the screen? Previously I have found choppy playback when using it to cast movies, I know hudl 2 had a hdmi output but is now discontinued

Windows tablets let you do that when using a HDMI lead.

But you still need to be sitting close enough to the TV for the length of cable you have. Wireless streaming just gives you more flexibility.

You can only mirror screen with an internet connection but effective mirroring does depend on power of device. You could try a miracast dongle which talks direct to tv.

TBH it is probably easier to put video in a usb stick if tv supports inpout via a usb stick?

True. But some tablets can only mirror their screen. Just clarifying that Windows tablets can extend as well. Very useful if you plug in an external monitor and use the tablet with a keyboard as a dual monitor PC.

I doubt your average tablet is powerful enough to use effectively with a dual monitor setup really.

Dude, even the first gen Surface RT could run two displays. The Linx 1010 is more powerful than the RT. Not my video, but I've done exactly what he shows with my RT and the Linx. And it can run the HDTV at full 1080 resolution.

Shame the iPad can't do it, not even the Pro. Still, maybe in another few years....
