Panasonic soundbar volume control

I am connecting a Panasonic TV (TX 42A400B) and sound bar (SC HTB485) by HDMI ARC sockets. I cannot silence the TV speaker and use the TV remote to adjust the sound bar volume.

CEC is enabled on the TV. The powering is linked. Factory reset on both units and an alternate HDMI cable have been tried. There is no speaker selection in the TV settings menu.

Is there a way of unifying the sound controls?

It should be totally automatic, assuming both items have CEC, and you're using the correct HDMI sockets on both items, the TV speakers should be automatically disabled, and the TV remote volume control fed to control the sound bar.

Thanks Nigel. I had several attempts at finding a suitable configuration.

Panasonic eventually responded advising the TV does not support this feature.

No sound settings in the menu? That's very odd........

You need to locate the Viera Link setting in your smart tv system - it may have a dedicated button to do this ""Viera Link" or it may be an actual app in the smart tv system.

Here is how to do it via the button:

If you just have a Viera Link app in the Smart TV system it is the exact same procedure once you locate it - your TV remote may have a dedicated "app" button.

Yep. The TV settings menu has a Viera logo but no Viera settings. It is probably the Home Theatre setting within the missing menu that would determine the TV audio out route
