EE: DTC must go- problems with EE
Watched Eastenders for just over 10 years now and have always stayed very positive about it but after tonight I've realised just how downhill it's gone since March. The main problems are
Block storytelling- One minute characters are having big storylines next episode not in it at all and may not be for a few weeks. Character Development (Or lack of it)- For example Donna who's been on the square for nearly 2 years hasn't had a single storyline whilst Vincent after being on screen for less than 2 months was a major character. Destroying characters- A major example of this is Ronnie who until a couple of years ago was a much loved character but what is now really sad to see is the hate she gets on this forum. Although I get the part about her becoming a villain after everything she's been through she's being wrecked bit by bit. She's still my favourite but despite DTC creating her he's wrecked her more than any other producer. Destroying the history- I unfortunately never watched Sharon on screen with Den but I know stuff like "Princess" was a catchphrase, but to say that it was something that originated from Gavin (a character I couldn't give a stuff about) is a joke. To a lesser extent there's Ronnie and Matthew. Something major in Ronnies character from 07-11 was that she always wanted a child and in 2015 they finally gave her a healthy one. This had opportunities like, not being able to bond with him after her coma, Becoming obsessed with keeping him safe like taking him to doctors every time he coughs or something, but apart from one scene of her playing with him in the lounge she always dumps him on Honey. Exhausting characters- Simply just the Carters who've had 5 years worth of storylines in 2. Plot holes- Didn't they say that we'd find out who's body was identified as Kathys, Billy's pictures of Lucy, DTC either needs to repair it majorly or he needs to do the decent thing and resign because until March he was hailed as the saviour of EastEnders yet now he's hated on this forum. Oh and axing characters like Lola and Arthur |

DTC makes me sick. I almost spat my tea out when I read somewhere a few weeks ago that he is considered "production royalty" or some such rubbish.
He has brought EE to its knees and is the sole reason that more and more people moan and think the show is boring, rubbish and pathetic. He should be ashamed of himself. Just go. |

There's also the way he hypes everything up and the way he thinks he's amazing but is really just a smug little t**t

If DTC doesn't fix some of the flaws of this year, next year could potentially be another 2004 in terms of quality. He's capable and EE hasn't gone into Kirkwood territory which literally had me switching off.
To his credit, he has made Nu Shabnam one of the best characters on the show and brought out the best from Rakhee Thakrar who's a talented actress. He also made a good decision to give the Carters a long-ish break from TV over the summer. After the overkill of 2014, I've really warmed to them again since the autumn. The block storytelling has got to go. No more new characters or returns for a while. With Honey and Jack returning in the past month or so, I think we ought to wait before thinking about Grant or Zainab. Much as I want them back I feel that EE is just too crowded at the moment. The writers need to focus on Denise, the Cokers, Jay (he'll be getting a storyline in 2016) and Lee/Whitney more IMO. Plus there's potentially a new set of Slaters to be revealed if Brian had more kids. Jean mentioned he had another family. |

No one cared when archie Mitchell was suddenly made up out of thin air and having two daughters but suddenly the show sucks because they are adding a few more things to the history. Eric was involved with gangsters and Peggy loved thatntype of life she was with George palmer who she said was similar to her Eric

The habitual liar and menace to society needs to go, and take Alex Lamb with him. If he refuses, I'd recommend security immediately remove him from Elstree before he ruins any more storylines.

I do think the personal attacks on him are a bit much tbh but I do understand why people are critical of his work this year. He seems to have taken his eye of the ball and sensationalised everything. 2014 was a great start and the show was finally on the road to recovery. Viewers were finally praising EE again. I was one of them. The Carters were a breath of fresh air to the show. 2015, maybe complacency got in the way? I dunno. ![]() DTC has proven that he can be a good EP imo. 2014 proved that. When he took over and I saw his material, I was impressed. It wasn't perfect by any means but after the dreadful Kirkwood era, I was genuinely optimistic. Then come 2015, it regresses back to 2013. I do believe that if DTC learned his lessons and realises his mistakes from 2015, then we may be in a for a good 2016 because he is perfectly capable. My problem is that 1) too many people have lost faith in him now and 2) He won't view 2015 as a bad year and continue down the same path. |

On average, a EP's tenure tends to last three years so I do believe 2016 to be his last year.

They have both dragged on too long. |

I actually think DTC is doing a great job. He's got the show getting spoken about again, shocking storylines and twists and turns which keep you watching. If you've watched the show for the last 10 years, you've been through the bad eras of 2011 and 2013 which I'm sure we can all agree we don't miss.

I really hope he and Lamb leave soon as I am bored of his storytelling now and Christmas 2015 has been rubbish. Someone new and fresh needs to come in and resolve these storylines he clearly doesn't want to end and just let run and run.

. I also would like evidence of how he's smug and arrogant. I totally get if people aren't impressed with his tenure even if I don't agree but I think it's hilarious how people act like they know what he's like

Two story lines need to be laid to rest.
Lucy's murder Dean the rapist. They have both dragged on too long. I understand sometimes long running storylines work but it has to have enough interest and suspence to keep viewers glued. The Bobby storyline should have concluded this xmas with Max getting out of jail. I understand DTC wanting to show the repercussions of letting a child get away with murder but the fact it's been almost two years with no resolution in sight is just getting silly now. Dean should have been written out in spring this year at the latest. They're just dragging out the inevitable. |

Don't get how he has got it so wrong. From a great 2014 to a crap 2015. Up until the live things were looking great for the show. Everyone was talking about it. The characters/cast were strong and actually likeable. Now it seems to have been all destroyed. Ruined big characters not many actually likeable ones left at the moment. Get over the Dean and Lucy stuff now. How much longer to we have to repeat the same thing week after week. Same with the Vincent/Ronnie stuff. And now to top it all off Poor Fatboy died in horrid circumstances. That was just cruel.
Oh and The way him and Alex Lamb fan girl on twitter is also really annoying

This Autumn / Christmas has been one of the worst in the shows history. Just terrible.
They need a whole new story team. |
