Something ewww just crossed my mind about the Carter / Masood family tree
ok so we all now EE is full of large family trees with connections that would be a little icky in the real world, but a new one just crossed my mind.
Nancy and Jade are cousins, and Tamwar is Jade Uncle, meaning she is dating her cousins uncle which sounds icky to me, even if there is no blood relation. |

I do not see a problem, there is no blood relation. And it is not as if Tam had been involved in Jades life. He didn't even know she was alive till very recently.

The fact that Nancy and Tamwar are dating doesn't bother me as they are not related. However, both Nancy and Tamwar may be carriers of the cystic fibrosis gene as both Dean and Shabnam were clearly carriers. That could be a big worry if they have children.

And if so, how come Dean didn't get it? |

There's no blood relation between Nancy and Tamwar, so it's fine. Plus they started dating, before they knew about Jade.

Each cell in the body contains 23 pairs of chromosomes. One chromosome from each pair is inherited from your mother and one is inherited from your father.
The chromosomes contain the genes you inherit from your parents. There may be different forms of the same gene – called alleles. For example, for the gene that determines eye colour, you may inherit a brown allele from your mother and a blue allele from your father. In this instance, you will end up with brown eyes because brown is the dominant allele. The different forms of genes are caused by mutations (changes) in the DNA code. Conditions that are inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern, like cystic fibrosis, to be passed on to a child, both parents must have a copy of the faulty gene (they are ‘carriers’ of the condition). If the child only inherits one copy of the faulty gene, they will be a carrier of the condition but will not have the condition themselves. If a mother and a father both carry the faulty gene, there is a one in four (25%) chance of each child they have inheriting the genetic condition, a one in four (25%) chance of them inheriting 2 healthy genes (no CF at all) and a one in two chance (50%) of them being a carrier. If a mother is a carrier and a father is not each child will be either a carrier or not inherit the faulty gene at all. Tamwar's situation is simple - he's either a carrier or not. He, Syed, and Kamil ought to be tested to see if they are CF carriers ASAP - and depending on Syed's result Yasmin may need to be tested. Nancy, I think, is probably not a carrier. This is why: Current backstory has that Mick, Tina and Linda (and possibly the kids) spent time with Shirley and Kevin when Jimbo, Carly and Dean were young. Chances are that when Jimbo was diagnosed with CF that Carly and Dean and Mick and Tina would have been advised to be tested to see if they were carriers of the CF gene too (as Shirley has to be a carrier). Linda, being Linda, would have taken the test too. Given no one seemed worried about the baby having CF when Linda was pregnant with Ollie, I believe Linda is definitely not a carrier (so there is no chance of her child having CF at all - they would inherit a "correct" dominant gene from Linda) and I suspect neither Mick nor Buster are carriers either. And that got a bit complicated. ![]() Anyway, if you want to look at odd relationships by marriage - Ben's step-mother is also his step-sister. |

Well spotted. Everything is soooooooooooo convoluted now. Ronnies baby is a Mitchell-Cotton. Roxy's baby is a Mitchell-Branning. Jade is a Masood-Carter. Tamwar - Nancy is a Masood - Carter partnership.
