Humax HDR1000S Drive Upgrade - 2TB WD Red a good choice?
I know it's stupid o'clock on sunday morning
![]() As per the title, is the WD20EFRX 2TB a good choice for the Humax ?. I'm assuming (and hoping) that because it's primarily recommend for NAS drives that it'll be ideal for a PVR with a reasonable amount of usage - not high, but not low either. I'll leave this here until you're up at a more respectable time

I wouldn't use one in a pvr. A NAS drive doesn't have to cope with a specific area of the hard drive being constantly written (The time shift buffer area). The 2TB WF drives designed for pvr use are WD20EURS/EURX.
These models are also extremely quiet in operation. http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/librar...879-701250.pdf |

Picked up the WD20EURX 2TB drive today and the installation was an absolute doddle. Booted the box back up and it recognised and formatted the drive immediately - gives about 1.8TB free for recording space which is perfect.
