New oven - messed up Christmas dinner!

Hi

I got a new zanussi double oven a couple of weeks ago... Used top oven for first time and it didn't cook properly! The spuds didn't brown enough, and the yorkies were still puddingy.... It just didn't seem hot enough

Do you need to "run" new ovens in?! It has a top and bottom heating element and I had both on according to the manual... I'm worried as I'm doing another Christmas family meal tomorrow ... Please help!

My oven is about 5 years old, but the top oven never gets as hot as the bottom oven.

Top ovens (or the smaller compartment, wherever it may be situated) are generally a bit meh in my experience. I guess there isn't enough space for the air to circulate properly. You could try turning the temperature up a bit and leaving things in longer.

Buy a cheap oven thermometer so you can see what temperature it actually is.

Go to T K Maxx and buy an oven thermometer.

Same as others, our top oven never cooks as well as the bottom. We use it mostly to keep food warm while juggling for space.

Thanks all. Will get a thermometer and over compensate for tomorrow's meal in the meantime
