Retired now. He does a similar job as Wayne Mardle for Dutch TV now. I think he realised, like Mardle, that he could make more money talking about darts than playing it. As an aside I read that another Dutch great, Roland Scholten has retired too. He works for German TV

Poor old Silverback, looks like his days of reaching a final never mind winning the trophy are behind him now

shame scholten was never the same after his injuries and surgery. He was a great player to watch.

remember him winning UK open and being in the early premier league days.

I think he got to about 4 in the world at one point. Yeah real shame the injury affected him so much

The womens tournament has come on in leaps and bounds over the years, much better quality of field now.

Shame the lady who started it all back in the day Trina is past her best now well either that or the level of the game has passed her by I'm not sure.

Paula Jacklin looks like a cross between Ruth Madoc & Su Pollard. Impressive!

She hasn't got time now, what with Eastenders.

When did he retire? Earlier in the year he played in at least half a dozen tour events, winning one.

The quality of the darts may have improved but the BBC coverage hasn't, Colin Murray is a personable host and doesn't go too OTT but please...can they not find someone to replace Mr George, his comments about "scrappy" darts in the Jim Williams/Tony O'Shea match made him look a real curmudgeon, not at all like Mason/Warriner who always comment fairly and constructively. The other 5 Live commentators try their best but it needs better experts if it is to draw in a new audience and do we really want all of the wags on camera? It may appeal to some but not sure I'd be too impressed if this was the only darts I could watch and pay my licence fee for.

The dramatic thud every time a dart hits the board on the BBC coverage is making my house shake. I've had to turn off the tv sound bar.

Found it odd that Colin Murray basically admitted the bdo was more or less a feeder for the pdc within the first minute or so of coverage. Whatever happened to hyping up your product?

This gets considerably more viewers than the PDC ( for obvious reasons ) so he doesn't have to sell it too much. He also said that whether you are on a hill in North London or a country club in Surrey its all about the fans, which is true.

Yep sadly I fear that year he came close was his best chance.

It was more the listing previous champions that have jumped ship and asking who's next to move on that I meant. Very honest but for me a strange way to open the coverage.

Bobby reminding us these people play each other all the time on the tour. I think they sometimes do try to pretend that they only ever see each other once a year.

Interesting them talking about the PDC quarters and semis with Chuck Norris there! At least they don't pretend it doesn't exist like what some involved with the BDO do....

There's a definite move from the bad old days where you'd watch Lakeside and it would be as if the PDC never existed. Got Chuck on actually discussing who is going to make the final tonight!

Olly Croft is probably sat at home spluttering into his cocoa

Surely the way she plays her game now is good enough? It's obviously working!
