So by your logic do away with womens tennis if they cannot compete with the men ? Get rid of womens football unless they play in the male leagues etc ? That is what you are saying. Combine them and if one standard isn't up to the other do away with it. Very poor and sexist attitude.
We have gone from one extreme to the other. Some people wanting more money for the women to you wanting rid of them. Basically the Women's darts standard is utter rubbish, and the guys aren't far away, that's just the truth. |

But that standard of tennis and football is good and btw the BDO as a whole organization should just pack it in, the sexist nonsense doesn't work.
Basically the Women's darts standard is utter rubbish, and the guys aren't far away, that's just the truth. So how would the county game work ? How would the PDC work without any pub or county players coming through ? Or would you be happy for that to go too ? |

Not only that but by the rationale that you do away with anything "a bit shit" you'd have to ditch the PDC world prelims and a lot of the first round matches. It's not the brightest argument.

Haven't BBC dropped it simply because the ratings are just not high enough for an event of Free to Air TV.
Someone on the SOS forum has put the final yesterday at 1.6 milion while the PDC final got 900k Considering one final was pay TV and the other wasn't the different isn't that big relatively speaking. I think ITV would want to see a higher rating across the board. I would be happy to pay for all the darts if i could just pay for the darts both BT and Sky for that. |

PDC final got 908k on its two channels. BDO got 2.2m on BBC, not sure of BT Sport

I agree, love Tony commentating . Tony is a character with an individual style and voice . Doesn't bother me either if it slips up a few times . Even the ref got the score wrong last night and had to be corrected by Scotty .
I've no idea who the other commentators are as they all now sound like clones of each other . All sports today has lost the great characters that once used to bring so much entertainment to their sports . Quote:
I imagine Eurossport may show an interest as they show some PDC events, albeit poorly.
ITV4 maybe. Eurosport may have something to say though. Channel 4, i don't know to be honest. Maybe Channel 5? ITV4 do show some darts already, but would they go for BDO ? Whatever, it must stay FTA in some capacity or we lose an audience, particularly of younger people who don't have access to Sky/BT. Eurosport would also suit, but BT Sport is just far too expensive for my pocket unfortunately. |

Would be interesting to compare them to the figures for the snooker on BBC2 . I used to watch snooker on the BBC but got bored with the long drawn out games and so many of the same boring players around . Where have all the characters gone ? |

And his beloved James Wade too. His average was a mere 88 in the quarter final. Best boot him out the game eh ?

He did yes and Sick Bullet's argument over women is they aren't good enough so they shouldn't play. He is all about averages and his beloved Wade got battered as you say. See, it happens.
I never ever singled out the women's game, the BDO as a whole is terrible. There's a big difference averaging 89 once in a while than every game, you don't half swing it around and talk rubbish. |

And you did say the women's game should be scrapped because they aren't good enough You also said the callers were awful then changed it to boring If back peddling ever becomes and Olympic sport I think we have our medallist |

The BDO game is an amateur one, they work and play darts for fun. The PDC are full time pros on the whole. You do understand that dont you ?

Darren I've always said the BDO should be scrapped and ain't the only one. far from it, let the better Players join the PDC, but after this year can anyone match them?
Just because I jump all over the quality of the Women's darts does not make me sexist, it is that bad for me that I can't even enjoy a poor close game. |

Re the callers, the Dutch guy does have a bit of a speech impediment which makes him an easy target for snarky abuse on other forums. It's never bothered me at all, though George Noble has always been my favourite by far. Meanwhile, somehow Russ Bray's voice seems to be getting even more gravelly...
Re the women's game, I'm glad that they've been giving it more coverage in recent years, as the BBC barely used to mention them (maybe the odd shot of Trina's winning dart), and unless it gets continued exposure and coverage then the standard won't ever get close to the men's. And there's no point looking to Barry Hearn for help. |

I don't understand the BDO haters and their anger towards another darts competition, it's just way over the top and unwarranted. Me I don't watch the BDO because it's a very poor standard but it has a right to remain and does a lot of work for the grass roots.

So you want to do away with the BDO ok ? So the county game goes, the pub leagues go. The players who work and want to play for fun go. Where do these PDC players come from ? As the man with all the answers I would be interested to know. Out of the top 10 in the PDC rankings, only 2 ( Lewis and Smith ) didn't compete in the BDO first. With your idea there would be no Taylor, RVB, MVG, Anderson or Wade.
So where do these players come from ? Personally I don't really care much about the BDO vs PDC dart argument. but if BDO got scrapped or brought out, the game would still exist in the county games/pub leagues etc, only difference being PDC would run them and their being a single unification body in the country and probably world considering PDC isn't part of the WDF. Didn't pdc offer to buy BDO out before. http://news.williamhill.com/a/bdo-wo...o-buy-the-bdo/ no question about it if BDO did get scrapped, pdc would just take over it. I get the merit of bdo and the work their do in the grass roots level, but it crazy to suggest all that would end if they didn't exist. |

TBH in my opinion only a matter of time before Darts starts have one body again.
it is crazy for a sport to have 2 different organisation and world championship in this day and age. |

I never said it would end I said the production line would end. People calling for the BDO to cease, quite frankly know **** all about darts. |

I think Kevin McDine has moved back over to the BDO, and I've been hearing whispers that Colin Lloyd might be going to the BDO too.
People seemed to get excited about Co Stompe "going back". Again, he was out of form and didnt enter much, in fact he hasnt entered anything meaningful since May last year. I expect Lloyd to probably enter one or two events but no chance he will do the full tour. |
