I noted somewhere that recently that sport 1 de, has almost 1 million viewers for the darts, and is fta - as this is how i watched in the uk, not sure how they came about this number but and in fairness their presenters where very good and the coverage was good too, ok in German but still very watchable.

I would be happy to pay for all the darts if i could just pay for the darts both BT and Sky

PDC final got 908k on its two channels. BDO got 2.2m on BBC, not sure of BT Sport

The most watched show of Sunday was Countryfile which was also on at the same time. That had 7.3m. Second was War and Peace with 5.5m

2.2m is still a good attendance despite all the criticisms.

I know he's not very popular, but I will miss Tony. The man has darts in his blood and a certain something will be missing without his input in some little way.


It would be nice it could remain on FTA in some way, but I am not holding my breath, but will hope so.

The BDO game is an amateur one, they work and play darts for fun. The PDC are full time pros on the whole. You do understand that dont you ?

An amateur game and calling it the world championship? I don't believe the players would say that it is an amateur one, and yes the women's darts should be scrapped as should the men's.

Darren I've always said the BDO should be scrapped and ain't the only one. far from it, let the better Players join the PDC, but after this year can anyone match them?

Just because I jump all over the quality of the Women's darts does not make me sexist, it is that bad for me that I can't even enjoy a poor close game.

Re the callers, the Dutch guy does have a bit of a speech impediment which makes him an easy target for snarky abuse on other forums. It's never bothered me at all, though George Noble has always been my favourite by far. Meanwhile, somehow Russ Bray's voice seems to be getting even more gravelly...

Re the women's game, I'm glad that they've been giving it more coverage in recent years, as the BBC barely used to mention them (maybe the odd shot of Trina's winning dart), and unless it gets continued exposure and coverage then the standard won't ever get close to the men's. And there's no point looking to Barry Hearn for help.

I don't understand the BDO haters and their anger towards another darts competition, it's just way over the top and unwarranted. Me I don't watch the BDO because it's a very poor standard but it has a right to remain and does a lot of work for the grass roots.

So you want to do away with the BDO ok ? So the county game goes, the pub leagues go. The players who work and want to play for fun go. Where do these PDC players come from ? As the man with all the answers I would be interested to know. Out of the top 10 in the PDC rankings, only 2 ( Lewis and Smith ) didn't compete in the BDO first. With your idea there would be no Taylor, RVB, MVG, Anderson or Wade.

but if BDO got scrapped or brought out, the game would still exist in the county games/pub leagues etc, only difference being PDC would run them and their being a single unification body in the country and probably world considering PDC isn't part of the WDF.

The PDC aren't bothered about the county game one bit. What happened to the womens game in the PDC ? Lasted two seasons and scrapped. They don't care about grass roots only the coverage in front of big crowds at big stadium. Go and watch a PDC tour event one weekend. Oh no, you can't because they are behind closed doors.

"Going back" is a bit of a misnomer, they just arent renewing their Tour Cards , or trying for one. They might not play a single event all year. Plus both are woefully out of form and Lloyd has admitted as much in a recent interview. Its hardly a "coup".

People seemed to get excited about Co Stompe "going back". Again, he was out of form and didnt enter much, in fact he hasnt entered anything meaningful since May last year. I expect Lloyd to probably enter one or two events but no chance he will do the full tour.
