Indeed, and who can blame him, the BDO organisation of these new events has been a disgrace. The next one is meant to start 6 weeks on Friday, now try and go and find a ticket for it...

Even as someone who considers himself vastly more of a fan of the PDC I take no pleasure in watching the BDO suffer what seems to be a slow, lingering, self inflicted death all in public.
I honestly think that when Hearn offered to buy out the BDO a few years ago they should of ripped his hand off. I realise he's not to everyone's taste but his record in the sport should command respect. Where next for the BDO? Are they over as a top level darts organisation and only now able to run the counties etc? |

Sad day, I remember watching my first BDO final John Part v's Bobby George as a kid in 1994 and all the greats have played at Lakeside But I can't blame the BBC for wanting PDC darts. I do hope that the BDO gets a TV deal from somewhere for the sake of the players.

Five weeks is a long time in darts:
“We have started to move forward. We have new events coming on board, new sponsors, so we are in a very good position. I’m confident about the future. We would like to improve the prize-money, of course, and that is something under discussion with all our partners.”* http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/g...-a6801286.html |

As I said in the PDC thread. As an overall darts fan, today is a good day and also a bad day

Well one poster on here said get rid of the womens game but that is just total sexism. Would the PDC care about the county game and bringing through the talent ? If the answer is no then the long term future of darts wouldn't be healthy. |

Christ. Prats galore on that website, full of PDC "fanboys" obsessing over a BDO fans facebook page. Cringeworthy.

Anyway, as a DARTS fan, I'm gutted about this news. Used to enjoy taking a week off in January after Xmas to sit down and watch the Lakeside and now it may never happen again. Yes it's good that there is more darts on free to air TV, but it's disappointing that a tournament as well known and with such history as the Lakeside is just being discarded away like a used paper cup.

This paragraph sums it up perfectly for me. The key words being self inflicted too

Not sure what will happen in 2017, but if Lakeside is behind an (expensive) pay-wall then it's not looking like the future is very bright for the BDO (sadly) It feels like the end of an era. |

Like I said in the other topic, learn to read and get it right and stop branding me that, just because I hate the BDO and criticised the womens standard does not make me sexist, I actually said scrap the BDO as a whole that is both men and womens do you understand?
And I am STILL waiting for you to explain how the county game would work if they scrapped the BDO like you keep saying. Full of suggestions but very light on solutions. And PS. I didn't mention you or identity you, you identified yourself |

So you would scrap womens darts. That is a fact. And that fact makes it a sexist statement. You kept saying if the women want to play they should play with the men.

No because they are both poor standard and the womens even more so, I have made this clear in the past why would you think it's because they are women? I feel the same for the men so I must be sexist to the them too right?
Darts will live on fine without the BDO. Two main factor is called pressure and nerves the BDO players aren't used to big stages and big crowds you only have see what happens with the top PDC players they get used to it and the ladies are the same it affected Lisa and Fallon this year |

Darts will live on fine without the BDO. And I stand by the sexist statement. Women tennis players should compete with the men ? Women's football teams should be in the same league as the guys ? Women's darts is not a poor standard you are just blinkered in your view. They have as much right to play as men. You are saying, correct me if I am wrong, that the PDC should be the only darts organisation. Correct ? They don't have a womens championship so therefore you are saying 'no womens darts'. |

Yes the PDC should be the only organisation, and it's closer than ever to happening.

NIDO already run the county system in Northern Ireland.
Therefore the SDA can run the Scottish counties, and the EDO/WDO can run the English and Welsh ones. There, problem solved. |

Also chances are PDC would just take over the mantle and probably just increase the funding the county games get or make the county games link to the challenger tour.

Not a chance. The county game has thousands and thousands of players. The Challenger tour, doesn't.
Anyway I suspect The county games is the least challenging aspect of a possible merger or buy out of the organisation. |

And the women's game ? I know you hate the BDO so much which means you will never offer a reasoned argument. They could offer a million pound prize money, have 25 9 darters and come up with a cure for the common cold and you'd still hate them Bradders
![]() You seem to have a been in your bonnet about the women, im not the one saying get rid of them: that is someone else ![]() And there is nothing wrong with my reasoning here. No other part of the world has two national organisations. The Dutch just have the NDB. So why does England need two as it does now? And don't say because it's tradition, because tradition doesn't pay the bills. The EDO and the respective bodies in Wales and Scotland would do a much better job at running county than the BDO do. In any case county runs itself to an extent, once given the fixture list and the dates they are left to their own devices and just email the results in on Sunday night. |

Scott Waites was interviewed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (Letterman's replacement).
Must be one of the most bizarre bookings ever! |
