I'm surprised by how low the views are for some of her biggest hits.
Vogue = 42m
Like a Prayer = 17m
Like a Virgin = 23m
Music = 6m
Hung Up = 75m
Papa Don't Preach = 6m
Crazy for You = 3m
Frozen = 7m
Express Yourself = 8m
Into the Groove = 2m
These are the total number of views of some of the videos uploaded to the official Madonna channels on YouTube. Some of them are also available to watch on fan channels, but they've only accumulated a few million views, so I doubt they've affected the videos on the official channel very much. Surely a worldwide superstar like Madonna should have accumulated more than that in the last six years? Like a Prayer is a classic 1980s hit but it hasn't even surpassed 20m views. It's strange that it has so few views compared to these other classics from the 1980s:
Girls Just Want to Have Fun = 182m
Time After Time = 94m
Thriller = 289m
Billie Jean = 185m
Bad = 135m
I Wanna Dance With Somebody = 52m
Take on Me = 208m
Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) = 61m
Karma Chameleon = 159m
Everybody Wants To Rule The World = 31m
Michael Jackson's death has definitely helped his views, but it's still impressive that he has lots of videos that have 100m+ views. Madonna only has one - Bitch I'm Madonna - and that accumulated so many views due to a gimmick in the video. The other two singles from Rebel Heart - Living for Love and Ghosttown - haven't even reached 25m.
It's bizarre that Wannabe by The Spice Girls has 139m views, but Frozen by Madonna only has 7m views. They were both hits in the late 1990s. Even Believe by Cher has 35m views. Music was a big hit for Madonna in 2000 but only has 6m views. Oops! I Did It Again by Britney Spears - also released in 2000 - has 80m views.
Maybe it's a copyright thing. It would be nice if every artist had one official YouTube channel that had every music video on there and was available worldwide.
