Marshmallow Adopted Storage
The Sack
27-12-2015
Anyone used it yet and if so what are your thoughts?

Looking forward to giving it a go in my 16GB Motorola X Play if Moto ever crack on and get MM out in Europe. I'm using a Sandisk Extreme Pro which writes at 45MB/s and reads at 65MB/s in the phone so it should make a decent go at it.

Well i can answer my own question now.

My 16GB Moto X Play is now a 74.35GB Moto X Play and there is absolutely no noticeable slowdowns whatsoever.

My worry would be if the card corrupted or failed, your phone will come to a crashing halt right?

Nope, the apps on it wouldn't work but the core OS is on the real internal storage. System apps and some apps won't move to the SD Card for love nor money anyway but mine shifted over 2GB of stuff and fresh installs now just go direct into the card.

Let's be honest since lollipop doing a full factory reset is only a minor inconvenience these days anyway.

What i do like is even if you set the SD Card to internal storage you can keep all your apps on the real internal storage but have the SD Card encrypted so if you lose the phone nothing on the card is readable if it is taken out of the phone.

Marshmallow appeared on my Moto X Play this morning.

I've read up on the Adopted Storage but I'm not tempted to try it. I really can't see what the advantages would be for me.

Just a little cautionary warning.
Anyone with a LG G4 careful upgrading to marshmallow as mine upgraded yesterday and put it an unbreakable boot loop, that Hardreset or reinstalling the software won't solve. upon googling the problem it seems a common problem with LG supposedly offering repairs, though I've yet to hear back from them.
Gutted as the G4 is the best phone I've had so far..

SD card is encrypted is the main one for me but the most obvious one is the massive increase in storage space.

I've actually changed my mind and converted to adopted storage as some apps just work better with it.

I think that this appliesapplies to a motherboard fault on the 505 and 506 SN devices. I need to check my wife's.
