Dunno whether this has been asked before as a thread...
Who did you expect MORE from? MALE AND FEMALE?

My two....Peter and Kirsty.
Just expected them to be better than they were.

Agree?

I think Peter Andre by far. I wasn't a fan of the bloke at all but fully expected him to be a good dancer and win me over with his moves... instead I now like him a lot less than before.

I also expected a lot more from Kirsty...she's in great shape and I presumed she would have excellent balance and coordination.

I wouldn't say the biggest let down, but I thought Helen may have been unstoppable and she didn't deliver on a lot of occasions.

For me it was Jamelia and Peter.

I had the idea that Peter would be a perfectionist and put in every hour under the sun to perfect it and would pull out some amazing performances, and when he did his Charleston I did think to myself "here we go" but after that point it was pretty much downhill all the way. If it's true about the 4 hours training for the Jive then that is a real letdown on his side.

Jamelia in the first group dance looked good. Add to that her musicality and some experience in the past of being choreographed, I have to say I expected more from her dancewise. However personality-wise she exceeded my expectations and went from being darned irritating and belligerent on the Bear Grylls series to being happy/smiley and funny especially on ITT.

I do have to add another "I wonder what would have happened" for Ewan. He is such a bundle of energy, uber competitive etc that I think he could have pulled a couple of decent dances out of the bag so it was a shame he went out so early.

Pretty much the same as you. Peter Andre, Kirsty and Helen. Helen wasn't a disappointment in terms of dancing or personality but in the way she didn't seem to engage with the public. I thought she would have been at least runner up in popularity!

Male: Ainsley. I don't know why but I really like him and just expected him to be better than he was. Was very disappointed for him to go so early.

Female: Jamelia. She looked great at the launch, and I really liked her, so wish she'd been better.

I watched retrospectively so it was odd to see those who I thought were not great at the beginning knowing they were doing well. Jay, to me seems really nervous on the launch show and Georgia not bad but not standout. How wrong those first impressions were of them.

I thought Jamelia was great, was sure she'd be a star of the show, Helen showed great showmanship and Ainsley and Peter were both really good too.

I also thought Kirsty would be fabulous, I don't know what happened there, but to be gossipy for a moment I also suspected that she was hoping for Gleb as her dance partner. That said, she still wouldn't have been much good.

Kirsty Gallagher. After her success in winning the games in 2005 I though she would be a really good dancer, like her mate Gabby Logan. Actually I think she was OK, but not talented, like the very best on the show. Well it shows that some of theses celebs are human after all !

Thought Kirsty and Iwan would be better than what they were.

Peter Andre. Mostly down to the overhyping by TPTB.

What happened with Iwan was weird. It was like Ola had run out of ideas or the will to live, with him.
Peter was slightly less weird. It was partly Janette's fault. She's not a true 10-dance all-rounder and it showed in the choreography.

Kirsty had physical conditioning and muscles but they were like wood, all stiff. It was like she'd become so used to the fixed range of motion of those expensive gym machines she had begun to seize up like the Tin Man.
Jamelia just danced like an inner-city girl who never had the chance to play sport. No real coordination.

Definitely Kirsty. Thought she'd be a real contender but her dance skills were somewhat lacking

The big surprise for me was that Katie was so good. She completely exceeded expectations

Peter - I really thought he would be s contender but as soon as his confidence went it was all over.

Jamelia - Tristan takes some of the blame here as she looked great in the launch show and in the celeb dance in the finale, but she was pretty poor when she was competing.

Being physically fit is no guarantee of being a good dancer. Kirsty is certainly in excellent condition, but she didn't have what it takes to dance well. All of the pro dancers, and the celebs in the final stages, were fit. There is another vital element. It's called talent. I'm not implying that she doesn't have any talents, just that they lie in different areas. The same could be said of Iwan - certainly fit, but no dancer. He wasn't the male disappointment, though. Kirsty had the statuesque poise that suggested she might be a dancer, but could not deliver. The male disappointment was Peter, for the reasons given above. I wouldn't go as far as some have done by saying they didn't like him. That's a bit harsh.

I would have liked to see more from Iwan & Anthony was a disappointment for me, though I don't know how much of that was down to his injury ( didn't really look like making a dancer though!)
Peter looked like he was going to walk it after the first two weeks & I had him pegged to win it so I guess he would be my biggest male let down!!
Female would have to be Kirsty!!

Kirsty and Ewan had absolutely no musicality at all between them. They could have trained from here to next week and they would still just have been doing rather stilted moves over the top of music, rather than actually dancing.

Jamelia and Peter showed that solo pop boogie-ing is not a transferable skill when it comes to partner dancing in ballroom and Latin, especially if the will to put the training time in isn't particularly there. Jamelia, to give her her dues, did seem to pick up on that and for her last couple of weeks did some of her best dances.

I remember she was a real favourite with the editors here at Digital Spy as a potential contestant on this year's show before the celebrities were officially announced. Due to her athletic figure, they had her down as a hot contender. Things just don't turn out like you think they should.

Another one was Iwan and he like Kirsty is athletic and had lots of energy and stamina, but he was really struggling.

I thought Kirsty was as big a disappointment as was Gabby Logan, mind you they seem to be "from the same mold."

The difference is that Gabby was a gymnast and so has some idea of movement and rhythm, especially as she did rhythmic gymnastics. Kirsty has a different background to Gabby

By "from the same mold" I meant "attitude."

I don't think the public warmed to either of them. Gabby's idea of movement and rhythm didn't help her, she went out in wk. 4, two weeks earlier than did Kirsty.

By contrast Gabby's husband Kenny lasted to week 9, as I think the public found his attitude more acceptable.

Gabby Logan was much better than Kirsty. Yes, they both had that same competitive mentality - but Gabby deserved to stay in much longer than Kirsty did.
