How to have a video conversation

Was not sure where to put this thread so apologies if it is not in the correct place.
My wife has a Apple I Ipad Air and she would like to be able to have some video conversations with our son and daughter but is unsure as to how to go about setting it up and what she needs to do.I sometimes use Skype on my laptop but only occasionally.Any help as to what she needs to do would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what devices your son/daughter have.

Facetime only works on Apple devices. Skype works on just about anything.

Use skype - that is what it is designed for and as LostFool (not an accurate avatar) says works on just about anything.

Probably better using FaceTime as they will already have that built in.

Keeps it simple though when we know they all have Apple products and means the son and daughter don't need to use Skype as well if they don't already use it.
