Paul has been introduced since June and he hasn't really been given much airtime. He is the grandson of Les and Pam but we never see him much. I would love to know why he is so drawn to Ben because he seems to have feelings for him. Ben always treat him badly but Paul refuses to "let go" of Ben.

Why not explore Paul more as a character otherwise it seems like he's a pointless character.

to take over Johnny's storyline with Ben

weird how they never developed him, other than the hairdressing stuff with Lola and the affair with Ben we know nothing about him

It is strange how love sick he is over Ben. He seemed like a bit of "player" when he first arrived and I thought his relationship with Ben would have been fleeting but sadly it wasn't to be.

Thanks for the responses soaplea and dantay24uk.

It'd be lovely if they could develop him properly. I always like characters flawed but Paul seems too "sickly" nice and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that but I don't know anything about him and it'll be great if we could see him do something else instead of hanging out with his nan/granddad and Ben.

I don't mind Ben and Paul together but Ben needs to stop treating him like c**p.

The writers are using him for two reasons at the moment:

1. Mainly a plot device in the eventual break up of Ben and Abi. This would've been Johnny's storyline if he didn't leave last year.

2. Someone who is occasionally with Les and Pam in order to patch things up between them. Block storytelling isn't advancing that as much as it should be.

With Dean leaving I wonder what'll become of Blades. If Shirley or Roxy take over and continue running it as a salon, Paul will most likely keep his job.

He has barely been around in recent weeks other than a brief appearance.

At the moment Paul is just Ben's bit on the side, we got some brief glimpses when he was telling Ben about his mum walking out on him, I guess bringing her in at some point is an option. Johnny Labey in the very little he has be given has been decent, DTC needs to flesh his character out more, give him some scenes away from Ben as at the moment he only exists if Ben is involved (same goes for Jay but we know he is getting a story next year) Unfortunately I can't see Paul ever being anything other than Ben's boyfriend and the Coker's Grandson.

Not in Eastenders.... Paui's a cut above the rest

It's fake that he would even like Ben... considering his history

He needs to get rid of that silly headband that he always wears (or is that simply me being intolerant of headbands?).

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense. In his early scenes he seemed to be an outgoing, confident, young man who was enjoying playing the field a bit. Now all he does is mope around after Ben Mitchell. It don't ring true. It's not like Ben is some great catch and it doesn't seem like their relationship has developed at all beyond having the occasional bunk up next to a dead body.

He's gay and that's it. That is essentially why Paul was created and introduced. Never bothered to really develop much, apart from his loving relationship with Les and Paul.

I still do not buy the chemistry between Paul and Ben. It's all been Lust and not love.

A pretty boy who likes hanging out with his nan and pines for Ben Mitchell...goodness knows why. I thought he'd been to uni, but he turned out to be a hairdresser. Oh, and he smiles a lot.

I wish they'd recast Johnny and put him with Paul. Forget Ben, I'm sick of the 'damaged, bad boys' always being mooned over, especially in gay relationships.

Yep. unfortunately this what I feared would happened once he was announced.

Probably be most well known for having sex next to a corpse

Other wise little point him, no development to speak off.

He did look gorgeous on halloween when he was in his costume. It wasn't just Ben checking him out.

I agree.

He seems to be there just as an occasional distraction for Ben and to act as a go-between for Pam and Les.

He doesn't seem to have any purpose of his own. We know almost nothing about him, even after him being around for a few months.

Paul should be used a lot more than he is and that is down to DTC and Alex Lamb not developing him enough, I disagree that he is too posh for EE, that is just an excuse. I guess Paul was developed as a potential character after Jonny left but I am still waiting for his character to take off and the Actor deserves better in my opinion- get Ben away from Abi and with Paul- this story block has taken too long!

I have said this before EE has a problem in keeping so called 'middle class characters' from the early days like Debbie Wilkins and Wilmott-Brown to Dr May Wright, the real EE is nothing like EEthe show, most of these so called EE have moved out to suburbs years ago. EE needs to move with the times in my opinion and embrace everybody.

What makes me laugh is that most of the production team are probably middle class and that includes DTC and Alex Lamb.
