SO I did quite a long fruitless search on silver (preferably) slimline graphic equalisers with TOS link digital in and I couldn't see any!!!

What's going on are there even any out there? If so please point me in the right direction.

Thanks

The sort of product you're looking for doesn't really exist because it would have to be a mash-up of 'old skool' and new technology.

Those slimline Graphic EQs of old were analogue devices. That is to say they worked on analogue input signals and used the same kind of sound shaping analogue circuitry as tone and volume controls. S/PDIF via optical just wasn't around much in the days of stack systems.

If you need digital in and out then buy a Graphic EQ and add a D-to-A converter to the input and an A-to-D converter for the output.

Yeah thought as much. I'm surprised a manufacturer hasn't filled this niche. Do you think there is much of a market for it given that most home entertainment systems nowadays have a TOS link output?

Anything that needs EQ can be done in software. Look at your MP3 player, mobile phone, stereo system etc etc. Manual sliders might look cool but they're an anachronism in the modern age. In fact shelf stereo systems of the sort that featured manual Graphic EQs have had their day too. It's time to move on.

What passes for 'mastering' these days is so crap that no amount of EQ will ever rescue it.
