How many young characters are the Eastenders writers going to destroy?
Too many to name in recent time. Another one down the drain today in Deano, turing him into a serial rapist just to write an exit for him, even though it was obvious that he had a creepy obsession with Linda (that he NEVER had with Roxy) and it was a one time thing.
Fatboy, Lucy Beale, countless others are just casulties of this pathetic style of writing, whilst has been clowns like Phil still rule the show. Time to sort it out. |

Deano was already ruined when he raped Linda?
![]() I think axing Lola was daft though and am wondering if the Lucy storyline was worth it. |

Dean has mental issues so he could of easily raped again when he didn't get his own way as shown tonight. He is mentally unstable and Shirley has to shoulder some of the blame as she has made excuses after excuses for him which made him worse.

EE don't know what to do with young characters. At one point under Kirkwood, there was a whole army of teenagers aimlessly roaming the Square doing nothing.
![]() My issues with DTC aside, at least he is putting some of these younger characters to use in dramatic storylines. Not that I was a fan of the Lucy and Fatboy storylines/exits. |

Dean is not really a character I'd class as young.
They've done well with Nancy and Paul -their not morally ruined. |

Dean has never been a good character. You can't ruin something that one dimensional.

True, he is about 27 now, isn't he? I know he came into the show around the same age I was in his late teens.
I do think they may be on the verge of damaging Whitney with this Mick thing

Sure, it was his actions tonight that ruined misogynistic violent rapist Dean.

Kirkwood likes young people. I think DTC prefers older characters from middle age upwards. I get the impression he doesn't know what to do with younger characters to be honest. Look at Paul Coker. Jay is barely written for which is such a waste of a good character played by a good actor. Ben's OK. Tamwar doesn't get much in the way of storylines and I would like to see Nancy actually convert (revert as Muslims say) to Islam to give her more storylines other than hanging around the pub. What's happened to Rebecca?
The last time EE had a good mix of young characters was probably back in the days of Jamie Mitchell, Zoe Slater, Martin Fowler and Sonia Fowler. They weren't bit part characters that just aimlessly roamed the Square doing nothing like the young characters of today. |

I think that's about right or maybe a bit older like 19 in 2006?
I do think they may be on the verge of damaging Whitney with this Mick thing ![]() A shame really. There was an opportunity there to take Whitney in a new direction. |

Shabnam and Stacey both have the demeanor of women in their late forties, despite both being in their late twenties.

DTC absolutely loathes younger characters and ruins them on purpose, I hope he steps on many many legos.
He drove MyLauren away. Twice. He drove MyCindy out of the country. He gave Lola a crappy exit. Paul is a slimy little hypocrite with bad hair that no one likes. Jay and Rebecca are glorified extras. He killed off Lucy Beale for the worlds most dull 2 year and counting storyline. |

No, that might be weird, Gradders. Had a lot of time for Lola but she certainly wasn't mine.

Yes, just when I thought Whitney was progressing as a character. They regress the character with all this Mick business.
A shame really. There was an opportunity there to take Whitney in a new direction.

I thought they would have used the opportunity of Jacqueline Jossa character Lauren being offscreen to properly focus on and develop Whitney but little sign

I don't understand why Whit has been left on the scrapheap (no pun intended) when I think Shona has always been one of the better young actresses.
