ED: Zak and Lisa?
Anyone else feel that splitting Zak and Lisa was unnecessary and pointless? At first I was open to the idea if it could be convincing but I feel as though it's fallen short of that and has potentially ruined soap's best couple IMO.

Yes, there wasn't enough build up for Zak to have proper feelings for Joanie anyway - loves her? since when? the affair started last Tuesday - and it's such a shame as Lisehh and Zack have been through more and stayed the course together then someone comes along with their shampoo and set and that's it!? Basically the writers and storyliners have got the characters history and taken a big massive collective dump on it and served it to us while calling it chocolate cake - we are all Bruce Bogtrotter.

There was no need for this storyline at all. Emmerdale has gone affair mad.

While I agree that it shouldn't have happened I don't think the feelings have only been there for a week or so. It's possible to have growing feelings for someone for a long time without acting on them, speaking from experience here.

I think they had a strong friendship and an attraction that could have been built on if Lisa/ Jane Cox was leaving - say Lisa died, for instance. It' s sad that Zak would sacrifice a longstanding relationship with someone he loves, knowing that it would cause devastation for his family, based on what could turn out to be quite a fleeting attraction. Different if they had shown him and Lisa drifting apart as well.

There has been too many affair storylines, but I think this is one of the more believable. I like that it hasn't been all about passionate sex and started from a friendship in keeping with neither Zak and Joanie being spring chickens. It has been more of an emotional affair.
Joanie is much better company than miserable Lisa who I find difficult to sympathise with. Zak and Lisa may be a long established couple but Lisa drags him down now. If the writers are going to reunite them then they really need to cheer Lisa up a bit. I'd rather see Zak have a bit of fun with Joanie. Cain acting as a problem-solver; wading into situations like this and throwing his weight around until he gets his own way is getting a bit tiresome. There is no way he can take Kyle off Joanie. Joanie is Kyle's adoptive nan - Cain is not even on the birth certificate and has no claim to him whatsoever. The fact Kyle is even back in Cain's life and was back in Amy's is unrealistic in the extreme. EastEnders did this with Sonia and Martin's daughter and people had no qualms calling it out for the BS it was. |
