He finds the signal way more consistent, especially indoors.”

Have you received your Quidco cashback yet? Quidco tell me that if I apply for the Gift Card that BT offer, my Quidco cashback will be rejected.

Oh I hope not!

My quidco tracked and estimates march for payment! I've also applied for the amazon gift voucher. I will not be pleased if my quidco fails.

According to Quidco support, if the gift card comes with the purchase then it isn't an issue, but if you have to apply for the gift card separately then it will void my cashback. So what I'm doing is waiting until my cashback is paid and then applying for the gift card. There doesn't appear to be an expiry date of which you can apply for the gift card, the terms simply state that you must have purchased within a specific date and must apply for the gift card after being with BT for 14 days.

Sorry but you are pretty out of luck

He hasn't received his quidco yet but I got £170 cashback on my BT Fibre purchase (paid out very quickly) as well as the Sainsburys gift card from BT so I'm hoping he will be fine.

Interesting move by BT, charging an extra £4 per month on top of your package to go from a 30mbps cap to a 60mbps cap. A bit pointless in my opinion. You aren't allowed to tether so where are the benefits in going from 30mbps to 60mbps. I'm all for it if it was free, but paying £4 extra. You can already stream 1080p video with no issues on 30mbps, I don't see any benefits outside of tethering with this.

I can't see the point in this without tethering.

Is this a 60Mbps 'hard cap' or a theoretical cap?

I've added the service onto my account seen as it's free for the first month, I think it's a 60mbps hard cap, I will find out later at a 4G+ site and let you know.

EDIT:
Another interesting thing is that the BT Coverage checker has been updated to show EE Double Speed as "Extra Speed" areas: http://www.productsandservices.bt.co...overagechecker
Just input a postcode.

Not everyone needs tethering.

Is tethering actually blocked on Android?

It works on android but breaches BT Mobile terms and conditions (section 25b) and BT have the right to terminate your contract and charge you an early termination fee (section 30).

http://www.productsandservices.bt.co...e-service.html

It does imply that you can put a sim in a tablet though so Extra Speed 4G could be useful here.

It seems that three are very strict when it comes to mobile sim use in a tablet.

BT mobile and EE don’t consider use of a mobile sim in a tablet as tethering, yet three do.

Three’s MBB prices are extortinate.

Personal hotspot using your mobile phone with your sim in to connect your tablet is not allowed with BT mobile. But sticking your sim in a tablet if your tablet has a sim slot is allowed.

Three must be the only MNO who class sticking your mobile sim in your tablet and going online using your sim as eating into your 12GB tethering allowance.

How about using wifi direct connecting to the internet from a different device instead of personal hotspot. That’s not classed as tethering in the way personal hotspot is.

If you intend to tether using personal hotspot to a tablet that has no sim slot, EE are the ones for you.

Unfortunately it seems as if Extra Speed is in fact hard capped at 60mbps down and 30mbps up. I was only able to test one site, so will test a few more soon just to confirm, but I'm reasonably sure that it's hard capped.

Does one really need as fast as 100+ mbps download and 100+ mbps upload for a mobile internet data service to be any good whatsoever.

I killed off the extra speed add on as it really didn't make a lot of difference on a mobile.

How are people finding BT Mobile?

Was on the £10 2GB tariff but the website let me change to the promotional £8 2G plan mid contact which was a bonus!

Wonder what other features will be added to BT Mobile soon? WiFi calling would be a great addition considering BT Wi-Fi access is included in the plan.

EE currently have a 16GB deal for £19.99, if via Mobile Phones direct and TCB you can get another £96+£10 off that too (via redemption). Or if your company is part of corp perks you may be able to get 20% off the tariff.

Tethering now available to iPhone users. Carrier profile BT-C 24.1 available to download by going to Settings>General>About or by a pop-up alert. Enables the personal hotspot menu.

Does anyone know if you need to live in a BT broadband house to get the discount or just know someone that does. I notice it lets you set up a separate BT mobile account in a different name from the BT broadband one so are they going to know if you just use a friends details?

You need to live at the same address (in the same household) as there a BT Broadband service.

If you try and take out a contract at an address where you don't actually live then this will (in all likelihood) fail the identity and credit check.
