I suppose the fact he made it to his 70th birthday is something special, given his not terribly healthy lifestyle.

Official Motörhead
15 mins ·

There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.
We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.
We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.
Share stories.
Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.
Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister

I saw him at British Summer Time 2014, unfortunately because of that performance I can't quite call this a total surprise as he looked like he was ready to drop dead right there on stage.

However, he has my complete and utter respect for being so completely passionate about rock n roll music that he pushed himself to keep performing until the very end. Most people would have retired so that takes some serious heart and soul.

RIP big man, will be jamming some Motorhead in memory of him, Download Festival 2016 won't be the same without him.

What I find so shocking is that he only found out about his cancer 2 days before he died! How is that possible?! Was he originally misdiagnosed with another illness or something? RIP Lemmy.

He does look ill in that twitter photo, so used to seeing him in music documentaries looking indestructible. Sad.

Very sad news.

Motorhead were due a UK tour in January he lived life to the full the very embodiment of Metal only one thing to do everything louder then everything else put that CD on.

Am i surprised not really he has been not looking himself for a while now as he battled illness.

RIP Lemmy a true one off.

Shocked & saddened at the news.

Always think that rock legends will go on forever.

Well, Lemmy's legacy will live on.

RIP Lemmy - you lived life to the full.

Legend is often an over used word. Not in this case. Lemmy was one of those figures who was always the same. Didn't give a shit what others thought. Always made TOTP worth watching. Never aged.... always looked 70.
If you are going to die of cancer I suppose 2 days would be the best way to go. RIP
