Surely in series 10 it's time for him to come back for a few episodes there would be so much ground to cover and stories to be made. Anyone think it's a possibility?

It's always a possibility, and I'd certainly like to see it, but at the end of the day it comes down to if Moffat decides he wants him back and if he has a good story reason for him to appear.

It would be amazing if he was back for a few episodes, he would be great with Capaldi.

I don't think there's anything else they can really do with him as he's not a very flexible character and his "get out of death free" card kind of limits any suspense with the character. It's not impossible he could return eventually though as I don't think Barrowman or Moffat are particularly against bringing him back.

If they could write a decent story why not ?. Doctor did mention him to Ashildr in The Woman Who Lived after all. Saying as Jack is also immortal she was bound to eventually meet him.

Doctor and his new companion could run into him after a bit of catching up and Jack being Jack flirting with both of them they could team up and defeat a baddie or baddies.

People were saying similar things about River when the comments about RTD saying Moffat should bring her back with 12 were first being discussed on here. Glad Moffat ignored them and as her story was blantantly missing one final important piece, which we have now seen.

With Jack, he didn't really have a set start to finish story to be 'done' so I feel he'd be even easier than River was to write back in personally.

I think there is still stories left in Captain Jack, especially as they could go 10,000 years into the future if they wanted too, or maybe Jack is about to cross his own timeline and ave his brother from that alien invasion or whatever. And the Doctor runs into him and tries to advert a catastrophy and defeats this alien which everyone was scared of.

Or maybe a story with the people who made Jack a time agent and he tries and figures out what memories he lost.

I would like to see him back for a few episodes just to catch up on the character really, seeing what life has been for him since we last saw him in Torchwood.

I think there is stories there to be told but don't think it should be overdone.

I sought of see Captain Jack as a modern day Brigadier. By that, I mean like the Brig in the 80's after his main time has passed; he pops back now and again to help The Doctor on an infrequent basis.

I loved Jack. But if he returned - maybe for one special episode/two-parter maybe.
He was better suited with Dr David T. to be honest.

I would love Jack to return also. There are so many stories that could be told, and I'd like to know what he's been up to since Miracle Day.

Jack needs to come back ..... to Torchwood.

I don't really see a place for him in Capaldi's era to be honest. It sort of feels like the moment has passed and if it were a choice between a new male companion or another hit of Jack, I'm going with new blood.

He does need to come back, but I think it will never happen now that JB is part of the Marvel universe, his loyalties lie elsewhere

I watched him do a live chat on facebook a couple of weeks ago and he skipped over most of the DW questions, hinting that his time there is over and he is now a different character.

I don't actually care if Captain Jack ever returns, but would like to see an episode in which we see the Time Agents operating as an organisation.

Thats the missing bit for Jack's story but I presume without the Doctor unless they use that bit where they wipe his memory.

I don't think Moffat has any interest in Captain Jack.

Torchwood on tv is dead so he won't be back.

Maybe he could bring RTD back for an episode or 2 to write a Captain Jack story.

Maybe he is one of these 2 writers?

Considering we're in an era where literally everything is being revived/rebooted, I wouldn't rule out Torchwood making a TV return at some point in the next few years.

How can you say 'better suited' to Tennant when we've never seen him with Capaldi to compare. He worked brilliantly with both Eccleston and Tennant, and Moffat almost put him in an episode with Matt Smith, so the evidence to me and also my personal opinion is that he works with any doctor. They are all the same man after all.

People were saying there wasn't a place for River with 12, yet it worked brilliantly. When the paternoster gang were in Capaldi's first episode, I'm sure there were people before the episode saying that they couldn't picture it and that they should have stayed in 11's era. Similarly, people could have said the same of Kate Stewart and Osgood, Clara, The master etc.

My point is that it's always hard and strange to picture an established character with a new incarnation of the doctor, but then it happens and in general tends to work just fine and gives more credibility and a strong reminder to the fact that they are always the same man.

I'm sure I read a long time ago that the Captain Jack realised by RTD & Gardner wasn't at all the character originally envisaged by Moffat. He probably doesn't like the character because of that and wouldn't want to bring him back unless Barrowman used his Scottish accent and called himself Captain Jock.

He probably did like the character if he wanted him in AGMGTW.

Captain Jack fitted in very well in the RTD era, as there were many "action " finales, with big battles.

He would have fitted in perfectly in AGMGTW, as it was an "action" episode, but that was the exception in the Moff era, as most of his finales and big episodes have been character studies rather than big spectaculars.

The only way I could have imagined Jack in S9 would have been an episode in which Clara was captured, and a desperate 12 needed fighters to rescue her, as otherwise such a military solution would be very out of character.
