You mean Ireland's industries! You will never hear it the same way again.
Carpenters anyone?

One that we have all missed Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman.. one of the biggest selling singles in Europe.

Joking aside, Renato actually lived near me, wonderful chap.”

Their chart topping single "Save Your Love" may have been one of the corniest tracks ever recorded, but it is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me and, to his credit, Renato did have a fine operatic voice. Quite frankly, I'd much rather listen to "Save Your Love" than quite a few the other duets mentioned on this thread.

Bing Crosby and David Bowie - Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth. So cheesy but their voices sound good together.

Fascinating watching the charts in those days. I seem to remember Save Your Love had an almost step by step route to the top, not really looking like it would as dominant as it turned out to be in the end-the altered Christmas atmosphere really taking hold and pushing it to number one 6 weeks after issue.

As for the thread-amongst a tremendous selection of varied duets , another vote for George Michael and Aretha Franklin "I knew you were waiting for me"-everything combines -voices, arrangement, clarity, for a fabulous result.

And a perhaps forgotten novelty-George Cole and Dennis Waterman at the peak of Minder success with their own Christmas song "What are we gonna get for err indoors".

I bought this track only a few weeks ago when it appeared on Top Of The Pops from 1980 on BBC4, although I've long known it. I'd never seen the video though. I also saw Cliff sing it live with Olivia just a couple of nights ago when watching his 75th birthday DVD from the Albert Hall in October. My own mum saw him two days before his birthday there in person but he sang it with somebody else that night.

Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush - 'Don't Give Up'

Masterpiece and both incredible artists.

Dancing In The Street - Bowie & Jagger, the very camp video sold it to me

It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be - Whitney & Aretha, a fun duet

It Had To Be You - Michael Buble & what's her name...

Gimme Your Love - Aretha again & James Brown, with naughty bits

I think this thread is about two artists who don't normally record together doing a duet

I can't remember if these have been mentioned or not but Michael McDonald did a couple of good duets in the mid-80s : Yah Mo B There with James Ingram and On My Own with Patti LaBelle

Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack - Back Together Again

Breakfast in bed - UB40 and Chrissie Hynde perhaps not what the thread title means but a brilliant version of a brilliant song and I was lucky enough to see them do the song live when The Pretenders supported UB40 at the NEC in 2000.
