Hi all, need a new cable for the daughter's ipad 4, as her last one has lasted about three months, but doing a bit of research indicates that:

Genuine Apple are rubbish (£15!). Only 1 star awarded by over 500 buyers on the Apple site!
All cables on ebay/Amazon (£1.50 upwards) are counterfeit and last about a week if you're lucky.

Has anyone managed to source a decent cable recently? I really don't know where to look now.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers AG

Genuine Apple ones aren't rubbish. I've never had one fail for me.

However, if you daughter isn't going to treat them carefully, you might as well buy a few £1 ones from the pound shops and throw them away when they fail.

Sounds as if you've been lucky judging by the comments on Apple site- but thanks for the info- sounds a bit more encouraging. Cheers.

I've never had a problem with Apple ones but I have forked out for a heavy duty one from here

They're very good

I've never had a problem with one and neither has my wife either and that's over years of use.

Although to be honest I don't think I have ever had a USB cable fail on me and I have had USb cables pretty much since USB came out!

The reason for the one star review on the Apple site is due to the cost not the quality. I have Apple ones that have been around for years without any problems but the cheap ones from the likes of Amazon et al are rubbish and don't last. You get what you pay for.

My sister bought two from Poundland, in different packaging. One failed after a week, the other is still going strong months later.

Well I decided to find the cheapest genuine part, and came up with Replacebase.co.uk. Looks like a genuine operation, based in UK, and so I've bought a new cable at £8.43.

We'll see how it performs.................

Thanks for all the comments and advice- Cheers! AG
