Read a few reviews saying you pestered by adverts? just wondering for some info if its true or not?

As after buying one but don't want to adds flashing up all the time.

If you choose the configuration 'without special offers' it doesn't have all the adverts people complain about. It's an extra £10 for the privilege though.

Hey 1saintly! Whatcha doing here?

Mentioned earlier in this particular forum, I got one of these for the missus and my dad, and so far it's been really impressive. The only ads you see that are any different from how Google would present them on Android, are on the lock screen. Each time you press the button to enter your PIN/password or otherwise unlock the device, there's a full screen ad rather than a user defined wallpaper. I wasn't sure if this would be an issue or not but the missus doesn't really notice it now and has said it's not worth paying £10 to remove.

Otherwise, the Silk browser has ads exactly the same way as Chrome on Android has them, and other apps may have ads in a similar vein also to regular Google Android. However, I have spotted Adblock in the Amazon App Store, and may install that if need be.

Hope that helps you dude!

I Know, me venturing outside the PC Forum

Yep thanks for the replies, mind at rest knowing wont be as bad as i had read.

For £50 missus wants one just for browsing whilst sat at home, wont be heavy usage just bigger than phone she's got, so she can read the DS forums when her reality shows are on as some of the comments posted by DS users has her in stitches during the live shows.
Some of those people in the TV section have a wicked and dry sense of humour

Or for checking sport results etc
All ready checked the apps are available that she needs.

The only other thing it does is make recommendations on the home page, like if you're on your Books tab, it can say "Recommended for you" below your library. Similar to if you were in the Google Play Store. However, you can turn this off easily in the Home Screen settings so you don't see these. In all, it's a nice tablet indeed and well worth the money. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Aye, I did too. Nvm eh?

I looked into installing the Google Play store and it does look easy, but as it happened the missus wasn't bothered. I'll see how it looks long term but there's also decent custom ROMs around too.
