Just be aware, to just say it's a first gen could lead to problems, there was a first gen 3G model and also a first gen 4G model, just to confuse things.

I would agree, CEX seem to be selling the first gen 4G from around £40 these days, Zoe could buy an entire phone for the price of the repair.
You mean a used phone. Do these shops thst sell used phones and video games actually check them before they buy them from punters.
I was in the game shop last thursday new years eve. And an upset woman with her daughter was returning the playstation she had bought from them, because it was locked with a password, the staff told her the internet was down in the shop, she left with playstation and upset daughter

CEX are pretty thorough with testing, in my experience, they do a physical exam and checkmend for every phone they buy in.

You could also buy the new version of the 4G for £89 from Vodafone, an unlock code is around £2 on eBay, if you'd like a brand new replacement.

Vodafone as a company are completely useless. Couldn't the shop order one into the shop for you to collect?

Just phoned one last time , after being diverted from contracts dept, to broadband dept, and finally payg sales.. spoke to an indian guy, with poor english.. eventually he said go back to store and order it, should take up to 5 days..
I pop down again in morning.. not holding my breath.. if no luck there, i will buy an E modle version from CEX at £54 ..
Mine broken one is fourth generation first edition.

You cannot order a PAYG phone in store. Only contract handsets.

You should be able to order online for delivery to a store or to your home address.

Even if you could order in store, it would be the same process as ordering online.

If you have a local (and adept) market stall guy to do repairs, the going rate will be £20 to £30.

Went down again to vodafone told the member of staff i was not happy with service on line and the staff in sales, . He went upstairs and brought down a moto g 3 generation phone as advertised on website.. he said it is a contract phone but i will transfer it over to PAYG bought it and had to buy a ten pound top up,
He said the reason i could not buy on line is because they are concerned with contract deals
And the phones that are ordered to be picked up are contract phones.. anyway job done
By the way the new phone is bigger than my broken one. And looks better..
No charger in box, only a cable for usb connection and phone.. so i assume i have to buy a main plug charger, or charge with laptop.. lucky my old charger fits..

None of the Moto G phones ever came with a charger so that's the norm, get a decent charger and not a super nasty piece of crap from ebay/amazon for £2 as they're usually shite and potential deathtraps. I found the Blackberry chargers are really good and charge up quickly.
