Yes, 2lbs a week is reasonable over the long term - however the weight loss is never consistent. You will find periods where you drop a few pounds very quickly and other times where you get stuck on a plateau where nothing shifts. It's during these tough times that most people (including myself) just give up.

So far, I'm down 4lbs in 2 weeks which is OK. I've cut back on drinking (though not totally dry), been eating more sensibly and have been trying to go for a walk every lunchtime.

Well this morning was the big weigh in and glad to say I've dropped from January 1st record high of 111.9kg to 108.1kg

I will conquer this weight and get back to 80kg this year.

So last week didn't go well (family funeral, copious family offering alcohol), so I wrote it off and I'm back and determined this week! Meal plans at the ready!

Hey everyone.

Can I jump on the wagon?

Been down this road before and lost about 4 stone. Actually taught gym classes for a while and then it all turned round and I piled it all back on. Partly cause of my eating, totally no denial here - I love my pizza and chocolate, partly due to health issues.

Anyway, I am sick of dragged all this extra weight around so time to take action. I am a bit scunnered by the gym having lived in it last time and taught classes so I can't bare dragging myself back in there. Have been looking into more fun classes and doing lots of outdoor walking to mix it up a bit.

Well done to everyone who has lost already this year. I haven't but I didn't put anything on over XMas so that's a start.

Lets go!

Hello all,

There are some really inspiring stories on here. Hope you don't mind if I join in.

I have made the decision to be healthier. I started last year but yo-yoed and skipped gym days and didn't really take it seriously. However I ate so much crappy food and takeaways in the last month of 2015 due to a heavy work load and late finishes and the usual Christmas Fare that I am actually sick and tired of the taste of it. I also by some miracle happened to lose weight before Christmas and maintained it even with all the crap food so thought it was a good time to start.

I was weighed today first gym session of the year and currently stand at 17.4. Smaller then my heaviest of 18 last year but heavier than my smallest 16.5 also last year. I seem to have lost around 5/6 lbs already this month by eating cereal with semi skimmed milk, omelettes and salads, lean meats, veg and sweet potato, soups and small portions of pasta. I plan to gym 4 times a weeks plus 1 hour long dog walks a night and dance as much as possible on nights out

I've also given up smoking (9 days today) so have to make a really conscience effort not to snack to replace the cigs. Going completely cold turkey no e-cigs or aides.

When I had a huge weight loss of 3 stone that took me down from 16.5 to 13.5 7 years ago it was a mix of health eating, exercise, a personal trainer, juice cleanses and colonics (sorry for TMI). I am hoping that I am in a position this year to be able to incorporate all these things into my life again.

According to my BMI due to being 5'5 my ideal weight is 9.10 which is never going to happen. I'll be happy once I get down to a curvy size 12. Currently 16/18 and 20-22 in tailored clothes.

I want to learn to cook some more simple meals for one though, I can batch cook spaghetti and chilli sauces, meatballs etc but I get bored of having the same thing every few days.”

Down to 11 st 10 now. Didn't do great on Saturday - had a big hot chocolate with brownies and a ready meal in the evening with alcohol. Did well yesterday and today though and feel positive about the week ahead

I had such a nice dinner earlier -

Last night I made a tomato kind of sauce thingy. It had mixed baby tomatoes, a big salad tomato, yellow and red medium tomatoes, red onion, garlic, red pepper, tomato purée plus seasoning. Slowly cooked it on the hob for about 30 minutes. Cooled and refrigerated then reheated this evening.

Tonight I got myself a skinless and boneless pollack fillet. I cooked thus in the oven with some seasoning.

I also did a little bit of cous cous with vegetable stock.

An amazing dinner and I think quite well balanced.

Welcome to everyone joining!

I'm about to go for official weigh in. Feeling a bit apprehensive. This week has been an iffy week. I've gone back to one meal a day eating, although only one junk session (5 profiteroles). And the one meals haven't been great either.

I'm figuring I'm an emotional eater. I go off food at times of stress, and eat shit. And this week has been a stressful well.

Re the poster that quit smoking; massive achievement! Well done! I need to quit, want to quit. But I'm so worried it's gunna ruin the weight loss.

One meal a day?
Doesn't that make you incredibly hungry and more likely to get fed up then binge?

I have digestive issues, so I don't feel as hungry as I should. But yeah, it makes me binge. I've avoided the binging this week and lost 4lbs. But I'd prefer to slow that down to 2lb a week maximum and eat properly.

one meal a day id cry

what are you eating for your one meal ? I realise its a medical issue ..so if you can make pack it with veg and a good protein source and it should fill you up for longer and top the binging

Before I started eating properly it was usually potatoes (either mash, chips or jackets), and chicken. With chocolate and crisp and crap if I got peckish later.

Now it's still the chicken and spuds, but less spuds and half a plate of veg. I'm snacking on steamed cauliflower and broccoli, or an alpine light bar if I want something sweet.

Oh and to add, it's only the last week I've gone back to the old one meal a day thing. I've been having at least 3 meals a day since November, with just the odd day of not eating.

I don't know if you like it but swap the spuds for sweet potato and then your meal is golden

First setback this morning after being persuaded to have a takeaway last night by a friend.

What type of takeaway was it? Don't forget that unless you're eating an entire bargain bucket of chicken that one meal on it's own isn't going to have any long term effect.

I'm going to try sweet potatoes. Never had them before, but as long as I don't find them repulsive I think I could train myself to like them. I've been considering a veg mash. I love broccoli and cauliflower, so they'd be ideal. I just associate mash with a shit ton of butter

One takeaway isn't all that bad! i think being too strict is worse than one not so healthy meal. Just pick up and get back on the diet, and you'll barely notice it!

I'm 10 days into my weight loss and feeling good - I'm not going to look at the scale as not particularly bothered about the numbers, however my shirts are starting to feel looser and I feel as though my gut has got smaller which is all that matters. Havent had a slip up and I actually feel like I am eating more than before, the difference is it's all home cooked clean and healthy food, in turn my energy levels have risen despite the 6am gym sessions! high5 to those who are working hard! I will post my first weigh in results in 2 weeks time once I have done a month!

I was diagnosed with intercranial hypertension on Tuesday. The doctor wouldn't discuss the cause of it with me, said that I need to see a neurologist. But I've been having a read, and the idiopathic type (which I've convinced myself I have, because I don't even want to consider the other causes) is most common in overweight women in their 20's. Which is me. I have a BMI of 27.4. I'm so bloody pissed off my weight has led to medical issues.
Up until this point I've been feeling sorry for myself, and now I realise it's my own bloody fault.
On a positive note, I've got a new determination to lose weight. I just can't face being told that it's all my own fault, and that I need to lose weight and make better choices. I need to prove I'm willing to help myself.

Started back on Slimming World on Monday 11th January.

Weight back up to 18st 8lbs.

Week 1 - Lost 8lbs.
Week 2 - Lost 4lbs.

So, I'm now 17st 10lbs and 2 lbs off a stone in a fortnight! Determined to stick at it this time and reap the rewards. Have a holiday planned for my birthday at the end of October so want to look great for it. If I lose 2 lbs a week between now and then I'd have over 5 stone off. Even clothes that didn't fit me over Christmas now fit me great, but still want to get out of having an X at the start of my clothes size!

Remembered to weigh myself this morning, another 1lb off. Really pleased with my progress. My eating still isn't perfect but it's getting there

I know that one!

Because of the random sizing of some shops I have clothes stretching (literally in some cases) from Large to XXXL. To be fair the XXXL we're from when I was bigger a couple of years ago and now I just wear them round the house or at the gym.

At 17 stone I find that XL will now fit me about 80% of the time.

I usually need to get down to about 14.5 stone before Large always fits ok.

Hello there,

Thought I'd join in the fun, started my weight loss journey on 1st Jan when I was 16st 11lb
On my last weigh in on Saturday I was 16st exactly. I am hoping to reduce to around 15 by the end of the year which I know isn't a huge amount but I wanted to go for a slow and steady amount and feel that I have lost too rapidly so far and a plateau is inevitable.

Glad to see the other success stories from everyone.

I'm mainly avoiding bread pasta etc and no sugar where possible (aside from natural sugars in fruits etc). Although this weekend had a horrendous one for my diet!
