I didnt know you tended to do the meals for certain days, its never been something we have done in my family (too fussy & have to be in the mood to eat certain foods) but I think its a good idea - saves stressing over what to make/have. So is it fish later on today again?

Back to the rest of your post, and it is around the weekend that my meals are semi-fixed but I switch my meals midweek more. I had fishcakes for New Year's Eve to empty my freezer, and because I have often had them to end the week but now we were ending the year. Although I work more Saturdays nowadays, I have maintained the family tradition of pasta on frequent Saturdays.

Well I have been put off gravy a bit by my tea the other day actually (but we know that wont last!)
My mum is good at cooking, and we were having good old bangers and mash. The sausages were cooked and looking good so she turned off the oven. The potatoes had boiled well & were good for mashing. So she mashed away (poured in the butter and milk) but all of a sudden its consistency changed into sticky gloop! *Imagine the kind of mash you get at old folks homes*
So she served it up and went to get the sausages out, which had suddenly burnt despite being okay moments ago.
Anyway, she tried to disguise the mistakes & drowned it all in gravy (like my plate was brimming over the sides with it)
Needless to say I will be overseeing things next time
