I was in secondary school, preparing for my Junior Cert exams (the Irish equivalent of GCSEs, but unlike GCSEs they don't actually count for college entry) and I also got hooked on CNBC. It wasn't too bad a year

In March / April time I took my first trip to Australia, as I was due to have brain surgery in May, so figured one decent holiday should the brain surgery go tits up. I then eventually had the brain surgery in June which proved unsuccessful in treating me but I don't regret having it done.

Halfway through my first year of my computer course at College, pretty low times, no social life, drinking an awful lot, drugs with my Education Maintenance Allowance. Rest of the naughties weren't much better, worse if anything, general downward spiral. But things are notably better than they were now

It was the year I left high school and started college.

It was also the year I joined DS.

2006 you ask?

A number of key moments:
- Started my professional career with my first proper job out of Uni.
- Spent what I remember to be an excellent Summer getting drunk and watching the World Cup.
- Found a pile in the entrance to my arse hole for the first time, so had an anxious moment or two worrying about this strange growth.

Spent a lot of the year at a hospital with my son. Not the best of years, by far. But it all turned out well in the end (and much better than expected!) so it's all good.

Edit: I've just seen this is an old thread and I've already posted in it months ago.

Yeah, I thought I had read this before, good to see it all turned out well.

Basically I was copying the start of this years thread and tailoring it to 2007 and ending up posting it as a reply to this thread rather than starting a new thread. It's the drink.
