In county games Vince averaged under 29 last season, and unlike Butler it is not as if his one day stuff has been that attention grabbing.

Bring back Colly!

Yeah does feel weird to not even having a space in the bench for any promising batsman.
he might get a gig in india with it being 5 Test series they would need at least 2 batsman in reserve.

Averages low 30s against Div 1 sides and does have an awful lions record.
He has a tendency to get out cheaply in tough conditions or against an attack with 3-4 quality bowlers.
tends to feast on bad bowling.

Hampshire fans say he got an average technique and he struggles to know which shot to play at good deliveries and tends to get out a lot on pretty 20-30s.

In reality he a poor version of Ian bell, or Michael Vaughan.

Would still give him 4 more test matches.

Vince is more suited to the white ball cricket for england.

Also getting dropped from a test team because it is found your technique isn't strong enough or you got a certain struggle against certain type of bowlers or conditions isn't a bad thing.
Considering the player could spend time out of the game to improve and become better later.
Just look at bairstow he was out of his depth 2 yrs could barely scores 50s in Test and now the kid averages 160 in the last 5-7 test and average a tick over 40, was 22 last year.

i was a little surprised when he got picked as i never thought he had really scored the weight of runs needed but once he has been selected they have to give him more than 3 games.

I would like to re-state my case

13 wickets yesterday on the same track but with different overhead conditions

Surely, it must have an effect in June as well as September ?

First one of the summer I've seen. I like it but agree, 9.30 till 10.30 would be better

warne annoys me sometimes when he is commentating but this has been a really interesting little session he has done on the art of legspin bowling

great point he made about muscle memory and the value of just bowling lots and lots of deliveries so that when you get to a game your action is so honed that you aren't thinking about your technique but just on strategy to get people out

Sometimes it's worth having rain delays when they use the time wisely and put these pieces on

Excellent stuff

The limited overs squads are announced on Monday

Big hint that Tymar Mills is i the T20 squad. Hope so as he offers something different

Early lunch being taken at Lords as it continues to rain

Yeah, Tymal Mills has got some real pace. That's something that can be useful in Tests though he seems to be focusing on T20 at the moment.

he has to prove he can stay fit before he will get anywhere near the test team

4 overs a day looks his limit at the moment, nowhere near fit enough for test cricket sadly.

Another Yorkshireman

It just showed Cook with his pads on in the Pavillion, so it looks like he will be in next

Good news re the injury that it mustn't have done any long lasting damage

Hales has reached his 3rd 50 of the series

Lords would be a nice place for him to convert it into 3 figures......

It's an interesting one isn't it. that of all the big name players we've missed, Colly's reassuring blocking in the middle-order is definitely someone that I wouldn't mind back at his peak.

Why r the England team wearing black armbands if for that young cricketer from Bristol?

The fates are definately with Hales

Bowled off a no ball that wasn't

Big luck for Hales

Clean bowled off a no ball that probably shouldn't have been called
mimik1uk

hales very lucky there

considering the onfield umpires miss so many genuine no-balls and refer close calls when a wicket falls all the time to check for the no-ball i think the bowler can feel rightly aggrieved to lose a wicket when he was actually behind the line and has no right to get it checked
