Not really........it's the collapsing top order that's to blame

you can't expect the keeper and bowlers to keep getting us out of the doodoo......

Bairstow had been playing well but his mistake has basically finished off England. Those who got out cheaply with bad shots are more to blame. Broad doesn't last long at all.

As I said this morning, the odds being so tight have been surprising given that, for me, Pakistan have been comfortable favourites ever since they got more than about 230 in front.

Bairstow got a decent delivery but Broad was terrible.

Finn survives but it is only a matter of time before Pakistan win.

Still more absorbing than our Sri Lanka games.

Broad has no passion anymore with the bat at least Jimmy and Finn try to hang around longer then 4 balls

That's Woakes' 100th ball faced so far

Shows what application and determination can bring

Well that should be all she wrote.

On the brighter side Surrey have managed to get 326 runs today. Hampshire must be bad.

England went about this chase the wrong way I'm all for the new attacking side but this has been terrible we've got ourselves out rather then let pakistan bowl us out

really ?

we have an innings run rate of 2.73 , if thats trying to be too attacking then i dont know what being defensive is

root maybe played a shot he shouldn't have but it was a valid shot to the delivery that he just didn't time, moeen was the only really reckless dismissal imo

When you come through a testing phase of play as a batsman your job is to capitalise on it. Bairstow capitulated with a diabolical shot. His reaction in the aftermath told you everything.

Obviously Bairstow has batted with more determination and resistance than most of them today. But he still gave it away just as Pakistan were starting to panic and leak runs.

Well played Pakistan - winning a good Test match.

I think we need Stokes and Anderson back in but I wonder who will be the men to stand down.

Excellent victory for Pakistan

They do really look good when they are all pulling in the same direction

Big credit to Misbah and the management

finn needs to be left out, i still think he has the talent but there is no consistency to his bowling atm

i think ali's jacket is on a slack nail and whilst i thought ball bowled ok on debut he would miss out to get anderson back in

so for me it would be ball, moeen and finn out, stokes, anderson and rashid in

No. Can't accept that

England didn't go hell for leather at all

As I said previously if Cook or Root didn't perform England were unlikely to chase down 283, a combined 17 from the pair of them.

Indeed, I think they played it pretty well overall. It's just batsmen got out at key moments throughout the day each time we were getting on top. We were favourites to win with the bookies at least three times this afternoon and gave it away.

didn't exactly take a rocket scientist to work out we would have done better if our two most established batsmen did well ...
