That sounds unlikely listening to TMS. Also Anderson's having a good bowl - will there be a reaction? Squad doesn't have to be picked until weekend IIRC.

As Howard says its likely Stokes wont be fit and playing again in this series. Someone on sky said it might be a calf injury and those injuries are usually slow to heal.

I would replace Stokes with Rashid

Moeen and England doing the business

Moeen has only bowled 22 overs and has 5 in the match so far

How many could he have got if he had been utilised more....

Not sure what Pakistan have available to bolster their confidence before the 3rd Test

I trust they will sack Cook as captain after this calamitous test match result. Just think, they could have won a whole 30 overs earlier if he hadn't made the "most absurd decision in cricketing history!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!111!!!".

I would pick Wood he looks like he is bowling well. Brilliant performance by England but according to the press it should of been finished yesterday

just because we won doesn't mean that people cant say the decision not to enforce the follow-on was a poor decision.

we were going to win this game regardless after having a 391 lead at the end of the first innings. it was the state of the game at that point that decided the match not whether we followed-on or not.

if they had came out last night and said they didn't want to put unnecessary stress on the bowlers after 2 of the bowlers just coming back from injury i still wouldn't have agreed with it but would have understood it. but to say they were worried about having to bat against yasir shah on day 5 so preferred to bat again was just remarkably negative. pakistan would have to have scored 500+ in their second innings to set a target of over 100. suggesting your bowlers might not be good enough to bowl them out quicker than that or your batsmen might not be good enough to score 100 runs on a day 5 pitch just sends a poor message imo.

*sigh* some won't let it go will they.

Anyway, I'd go for Wood too, was in the side before he got injured, wouldn't be against Plunkett either. Shame on Ball I guess, but he didn't do a lot for me.

Bell-Drummond and Duckett may well have put themselves in contention, Billings too. Quite frankly at the moment I'd prefer all 3 to Vince or Ballance, yet I doubt they'll change much mid-series, but does give us options for the tours.

It gave the ECB another days money, and we still won in 4 days.
Cook was proved right, and it turned out to be a win win situation - what's not to like?

i assume that is directed at me, if you dont like my posts put me on ignore because i am not going to apologise for responding to people gloating about winning a game after not enforcing the follow-on when the result of the game was decided before that decision was even made

Boycott completely changing his tune on TMS about the follow on despite going on about it all day

Indeed so why carry on going on about it, you think it sent out a negative message, others agree. I don't think it did and we won easily.

As I said at the time I wouldn't have done it, but to carry on about it at the time, and even now is as Lethem says "absurd". It really is an incredible minor thing.

I'd rather talk about the actual cricket, who we pick, the Lions and so on.

No I'm not, I just think it's tiresome, which is my right to say on a discussion forum, I wasn't one of the ones that gloated BTW, but if you give it out you really need to take it.

You are very anti-Cook, so this is why your so adamant clearly. In the end I'll take your advice and put you on ignore

Wood would be my choice if, as expected, Stokes is out of contention

Keep an eye out for Mark Footitt as well as he is coming back from injury with us

Would add something different though I'm not sure if Willey has edged in front of him in the pecking order

I expect Stoke's injury may well give a reprieve to Vince or/and Ballance

I think Ballance as at least scored runs in Test's, I'm just not seeing it with Vince at all, and that last innings was particularly appalling. I think there are options, the names I've mentioned and Borthwick.

My main problem with Vince is he's never really proven it in Division 1, yes I know the old argument about Vaughan and Trescothick making it without a great track record, but they're just two players out of many countless, picked on style-type players, who have been poor.

I reckon you are going a bit OTT.

It would have gone into 4th day anyway

Show where anyone has called it that.

If you're going to have a go at people overreacting, it's best not to do it yourself.

Actually I am ashamed to admit I had forgotten about Footitt, he's a very good player.

As for Ballance and Vince, I don't think it is anything to do with Stokes its more a case of why change a winning side and a side that won handsomely
